    Leaving Bedside Nursing

ejk123, your handle reminds me of my email ending of 123 haha. I used it b/c I have 3 kids and also used their initials for the first part of the email addy. Anyway, I wanted to ask you a question about the CNA shifts you mentioned you do occasionally. I'm an LPN in Tampa who misses active patient care. I'm tempted to a CNA rather than an LPN. I'm not wild about boring home care and am NOT going to pass pills all day at a nursing home etc. I wish I had gotten a 4 yr. RN degree right off the bat but I'm now 54 and my memory sux for going back to school. It sounds crazy but I almost don't even care about the money. Can you tell me more of why you did CNA work while being an RN? Or you can just DM me? Thanks!

Anybody want some popcorn while I'm up?

    Am I washed up?

The last nursing I did in Tampa Florida was pediatric home care which I got very bored at even though it was pretty easy. The problem is I haven't worked since 2013. I might have to go back to nursing but I don't know if any facility would hire me now because I haven't done it for 6 years. What do you guys think?

Wow what a great and interesting question. Never been pulled over to or from work I don't think. But if it was my cousin Joey who pulled me over he would let me go for sure LOL.

Why do LPNs only make $40K per year?

Oh, and if u want to make the REALLY good money, be a traveling nurse!

Why do LPNs only make $40K per year?

Lpn in Tampa FL and here we get paid well in nursing homes. But please don't waste even one yr getting an LPN license. Not worth it. Go for 4 yr RN because hospitals now, atleast here, only hire 4 yr Grads now.

    LTC vs Assisted living

That is EXACTLY why in Minnesota I quit on my first night. Plus, three ppl cracked their heads open and bled.

    Quitting my 1st RN job

You are so correct. Many are scared to death to post on this site for this exact reason. They really do eat their young.

    LTC vs Assisted living

Hi, what state do you live in? At the facility you did not pass meds at, was that b/c they had med techs? Would it be bad to call and ask if they have med techs? I don't want to sound like I don't want to pass meds but it's so hard with zillions of patients each night.

    Practicum jitters

Geeze, I'd think coming in 20 minutes early would excite them. Just do not be 1 minute late or they go nuts.

Hmmm. Jury still out on the place lol. Pray hard.

    I hate nursing

Well said! We want to do good and give great care but we just can't. Can't Trump help this industry somehow? Things have got to change because we need jobs just as much as facilities need nurses. No one can work under horrible conditions and expect to love the job!

LPN to RN, LPN to BSN, RN to MSN

It does make sense to just go LPN to BSN since most hospitals are no longer hiring LPN's or ASN RN's (at least in Tampa FL)
  25. didi768

What will it take to get a job as a new LPN?

    God bless your heart.
