  1. nursing signing doctors Rx's

no way. they have to sign their script as they are liable to the DEA as well as responsible for the meds proper usage.:nono:Its just like if you signed another nurse charts....BUT WORSE! You could probably lose your license!
  2. any suggestions??

the nclex review book is great. just review the sections you feel you need too, then apply commom sense and logic. Remember your ABC's and Maslows Hierarchy's. The get a good nights sleep. Think positively.YOU will pass! BREATHE!!!!! Good Luck!!!! yo...
  3. Real-World Nursing Assessment

I really can't see a good reason for it either. Sounds like you did what was supposed to be done. Then again, some preceptors have their own arcane reasons.
  4. Work While In School?

Its a lot to do on top of clinicals etc. but a p/t CNA or tech job might actually help clincal proficiency.Just mke sure itr doesn't cause you to lose sleep or have low energy levels for clinicals!:Melody:
  5. Tips for nurses in their first year of nursing

Thank you for your very wise advice!
  6. Medics vs Nurses in the ER

as an EMT/Tech now ER nurse I do agree with a lot you are saying,However the ER nurses where i work are extremely qualified for the ER. Many were EMTs at one time, others have to do a critical care/ICU rotation for a year to get considered for the ER...
  7. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

Thank you ! I got a lot of flak from a few people for saying the 80% thing. It was actually told to me my a mentor of mine, a doc who had worked with Debakey, Colley et al, on the first human and artificial heart transplants. He also said any one good...
  8. Felony Conviction in TN

I don't get it.I know that misdemeanors are not counted against you and that charges of violence or moral terpitude( like soliciting etc) can keep you from being an RN but CNA? Are you in a BSN program because after the first two years and level ones...
  9. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

Again and again this go round with rn versus bsn. They both take the same tests. Dividing us up is not the way to stay unified and focused on patient care as well as safety. We are all RN's.WE need to unite and stay together!
  10. Title of "BSN" on badge?

Totally agree! Every other profession regards a bachelors as a sign of true education. Some RN's do resent us but it shouldn't be that way.Unfortunately i have had similar experiences to yours.Change is not always readily accepted.I for one will be pr...
  11. Title of "BSN" on badge?

yes a big difference in areas like complex care, hospice, pain management , forensics etc. Also a huge emphasis on the body, mind ,spirit, aspect. Each program is a little different.
  12. Title of "BSN" on badge?

Thats why here its RN-BSN. Its the RN that means you passed the board. The BSN just means we have a bachelors.WE are still RN, s when licensed anmd that is what they want to see.
  13. Title of "BSN" on badge?

many do but some don't.besides its the RN thats important to pts. They really don't care about the educational level as long as they know you have the RN. Same as a clinical nurse specialist or APRN. they do put those on badges but many patients dont ...
  14. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

you are so right.Great points.Instead of dissing more education we should be embracing it.Our profession is one of lifelong learning and some of these so called "BS book learnin'" is not a waste. The more educated you are,the more in sync with the Dun...
  15. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

I really wish yoiu would look at more than one programs srtucture.Lacking in clinicals is not a fact. our program is heavily based on clinicals. As i said before there is one class in management the rest are clinical rotations or research. Not all BSN...
  16. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

thank you! Sometimes when the future comes knocking it's not an easy thing.I am told that a similar law proposed here in Hawaii split the Hawaii Nurses Association apart. It is unfortunate because it causes us to fight amongst each other when we shou...
  17. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

you are so right. It really all comes down to the patient. When i entered this profession I knew it would be one of lifelong learning because in this field advances can come so quickly and there is always more to learn.I am lucky that the hospital i ...
  18. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

In order to get the masters you need the BSN.......there is nothing wrong with more education. That is why there are CME's. Not all BSN programs are the same if all your friend gets is more book-learning but no clinical experience to go with it.As fo...
  19. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

I agree which is why i posted to this originally. like I said we all take the same boards. WE DO need to work together. As far as the BSN choice. There are differences like extended programs in transcultural nursing which in this state is NOT a waste...
  20. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

First of all I did not mean to denigrate MDs or any other medical professionals. A big MEA CULPA there. I should have stated this differently obviously, I didn't. I meant that as far as patient contact and care it is nurses who spend 80% of time wit...
  21. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

OOps i guess I did hit a nerve. The nurses at the level one trauma center where i work can tell you how much they do and the autonomy they have. my favorite doc even says that two doctors barely equal one good nurse. one thing is for sure mention Hill...
  22. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

so GOP talking points again? of course blame Hilary....Like the last few years under the shrub and all his lies have been good for healthcare???? i for one wish Bill could have run again.Politics asisde.BSN programs have long waiting lists and lots o...
  23. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

Right on! thank you.We really don't need RN's and BSN's against each other. We do the same jobs and have the same training and most importantly take the same NCLEX. So lets stick together!
  24. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

To the post saying BSNs don't get hands-on...not true.We have many hours of clinical.Different rotations each semester. We have two or three classes in managment and research. I support RNs but please get your facts right about BSNs.An RN to BSN prog...
  25. NY State may require nurses to obtain 4-year degrees

I am a senior BSN student and I find this unbelievable. RN's have been the majority of my mentors and preceptors! We all take the same boards! I just don't see the logic.RN's on the job today do more than ever, but if they are already doing the job w...
