  1. @Kellienw Congrats! I wouldn't suggest doing too much to prep ahead of time because the school is unprepared themselves and despite having 20+ cohorts, it seems like this is their first time doing things. If you have a busy schedule, consider starting your titers/vaccines now along with taking your BLS class. We were initially given about two weeks to complete those but I guess they realized that was impossible so it was extended, not sure what the case would be for you class. Be prepared for lack of communication with staff and to eat lunch/study outside on lab days. They "right-sized" and got rid of access to the floor that had a student lounge area, etc. and still raised our tuition a month before we started the program. The class for your first month is really easy (no tests) and just gets you into the routine of school and the professor is very nice. Maybe during that time go over medical abbreviations and how to take vitals including manual blood pressure unless you already have experience. I don't so when I went into my next class I thought there would be a demonstration and explanation of how to do these things but there was not. You may also want to have a pair of scrubs ready, the supplier of our scrubs did not send ours on time for lab days and staff told us to buy new ones. Personally, I didn't and showed up in casual clothing for the first two weeks because I felt like I shouldn't have to buy more after paying $250 for orientation and the orders were submitted three months before we started in-person classes. Some people still haven't received the entire scrub set or are missing certain pieces that they ordered. On a brighter note, consider joining NUSNA, I feel like it's worth it just for the mentor program. I know its super negative but I just wanted to keep it real on what to expect and how to prep, I hope this helps!
  2. Just saw this, I'm an LA student.

  4. I believe the exact date is on the portal where we submitted the application. I think it’s under nursing application.
  5. I had prepped for a question like that and for something like what do you think about diversity in the nursing field. But I got a question that was like, "tell me about a time you were in a diverse setting". It kinda threw me off, same thing with the professionalism question. This wait for results is going to feel so long?
  6. @penguin22 I think it went okay, I wish I had gotten questions about myself and why I wanted this school specifically. I finished in 10 minutes too.
  7. @penguin22 I definitely want NU because of location and price. I think they also provide good support and resources. Also smaller cohort might been less students to an advisor.
  8. Hopefully that's the case for her. I'd go crazy not hearing anything for this long especially since they said interviews would be sent out 2 weeks after.
  9. This is about to be a long couple of weeks LOL.
  10. Does anyone know somebody who got rejected instead of an interview email? If not, is it possible that only 30 applicants applied overall?
  11. @NurseJennyT I don't know anyone with a different interview date than me so I wonder if there' another interview day. Mine is on the 9th. How about everyone else? I counted 29 ppl.
  12. @mistycaserole I’m not sure of any questions specifically so I’ve just been looking up nursing school interview questions and watching videos. LOL? I looked at the names to see if I recognized any in the CA nursing students fb group.
  13. @mistycaserole im in the blue slot. im curious about how many interview days there are.
  14. Also, do you guys think are they making it a group interview since they’re making it breakout rooms? Three people have the same interview time
  15. Everyone check your emails for an update on the interview link.
  16. Interview date and time were sent :).
  17. @syphan319 Wow! Your stats are amazing!! Nice work, I'm sure you'll get a spot.
  18. Just wanted to share this fb group with you guys in case you haven't heard of it. Some people in it talk about NU. https://www.facebook.com/groups/689672155238826
  19. @penguin22 yeah I've seen two other people who applied to cohort 25 in this fb pre-nursing California group. One said they have a 4.0 and there was another with a 3.9 I believe.
  20. @penguin22 For the GPA it’s the anatomy and physio classes, micro, and bio stats I’m pretty sure. I wish I could’ve retaken my TEAS but the advisor made it seem like I was good with the score I had. But now that I have talked to other people with 4.0s and similar TEAS it’s making me regret it especially since I had so much time.
  21. I have a 3.5 and 87.3 TEAS. How about you?
  22. @penguin22 - I volunteered at a dental office but I don't think it will count for anything. Im surprised they still haven't given an interview date. Hopefully on Monday they send something out.
  23. Do you have experience? I read in other NU forums that it's 4 points in the interview portion. I got the email today about the next steps and I was rlly hoping it was the email with an interview date.
  24. Hey everyone, Anyone here applying to National University LA campus (cohort 25)? It's nerve-racking that there are only 19 spots!
