I did. I had a pretty good non-covid reason though (National Guard Orders), so I have no idea how difficult it is to get a deferment in other circumstances. Personally I am happy it has happened this way as my Guard time will help me get my finances ...

I got in off the waitlist. After waiting almost the entire 48 hours though I decided to go with Columbia. Hope this helps someone that is still waiting!
I got in off the waitlist at Yale which created a (happy) dilemma for me as I was already accepted to CUSON. This was very useful though and helped me make my decision in favor of CUSON.
That's all definitely valid. The lack of information and the frankly brutal price tag (trying to get a VA scholarship, even the GI Bill barely makes a dent) left a bad taste in my mouth during the process. Just wanted to offer some light at the end o...
Hey all,
So I initially felt the same about CUSON's admin team as has been conveyed in this chat. However, I have some good news. The admin side seems to improve markedly once you're accepted.
I asked to defer for a year (orders to Army Off...

Waitlisted. Sort of happy about it though as I've already placed my deposit for Columbia's DNP program.
This way I have no "wonder if" type concerns. Congrats to everyone who gets good news today!

So for me, having been a Chaplain before this, I like the caregiving element and want it to remain central. While some doctors have a good bedside manner, it certainly isn't required or central. I feel like doctors are very competent mechanics of the...
So I imagine a few folks will be in this position, but at the moment, I have been accepted to Columbia's DNP program and have interviewed for Yale's MSN. If I get into Yale as well, I will have a tough (but admittedly desirable) choice on my hands. I...
This captures my own motives basically perfectly. Our school set is the same too, except I applied to BC instead of Vanderbilt. I wish Yale's program was a DNP. It seems to be the same amount of work.
Here;s my stats for those interested:
Undergrad: BA in Math and Philosophy from a SUNY, 3.7/4
Graduate: MA Theology from an Ivy, Seminary masters after that.
Prereqs: 4/4, Stats and Micro still pending.
Extras: Army Vet, Chaplainc...

It's really close and up in the air. Pros for Yale are that I'm a prior student and I like that they have more of a zero-day start (technically there are no pre reqs, though I've done a few). Pros for Columbia are that it is a MS/DNP instead of just ...

Had my interview today. I don't feel entirely bad about it but... unlike my interview with BC it felt very business like. It was very question and response rather than conversational, 37 minutes total.
In any event, I got into Columbia's MDE/DN...
Accepted for MDE/DNP (PMHNP Track)!
One point of minor concern though, anyone else notice the short response time (Jan 29th)? I applied to three other schools and none of then even make a decision by then!
GreenMagus87 replied to Psychmeout2's topic in School Programs
Mine went over a bit, but neither outcome is good or bad of itself I think. They said the interview would only be ten minutes. Mine was conversational, basically taked about the profession itself and navigating the RN phase.

That's rough, and I hope everything moves harmoniously with the new job.
I just had an interview with Boston College. I kept my prep simple and did the following:
1. Came up with questions relevant to BC. and my specialty.
2. Looked at...

Anyone trying to get some last minute prerequisites in? Trying to get stats done, doubt it will give me much of an admissions boost since I was a math undergrad (a little salty about the 5 year expiration date most schools have for it LOL) but figure...
GreenMagus87 replied to Psychmeout2's topic in School Programs
Hah! Well ty, one of the few perks of being a math undergrad is that your brain naturally thinks in GRE questions... well, perk or double-edged sword depending on perspective and context. ?

I can't give an exact post interview attrition rate, but we can approximate from the following:
2 work weeks of interviews, 30 mins each, 8-5 = 180 interviews.
A cohort of 90-100 students, even for a place as storied as Yale, requires about...
