  1. Ya I got nothing back even with 5 months ICU experience ?. It really pays to be a caregiver there it seems. Plus based off my interview from last year, the hiring managers were ignoring the people who didn't have clinicals there (barely even looked at our resumes) and blatantly only talking to the ones that did, and they were the only ones who got hired. I'm not sure if this is all the locations but my classmate was there too and thats the vibe they got as well. If you guys can I would say be a CNA there or something asap, if you realllly wanna work there
  2. Just put your phone on loud notifications and keep it with you, you'll be fine, relax
  3. For my classmates last year it was true! The people who waited until 6 am for the application to open got interviews right away and got in, the ones that did it later on got nothing
  4. I think it was the day of, I really don't remember but not a week later or anything
  5. OMG I barely saw the applications at 10:30 a.m. do I even have a chance!! ? Well for burbank I know I don't because its first come first serve. Don't even bother applying to mission hills unless you have connections/did clinicals there. (I applied earlier this year so I have experience witt this trust me LOL
  6. luckkky some of us who are licensed got rejected and still under review and yours says under consideration at least, man you are lucky
  7. girlllll my dumb self didn't see or read the proper instructions on how to apply, so I only put my resume like a fool I cant go back and change it ? it still says under review but for ICU on the same day it said no longer under consideration lolll.. Oh well I applied to so many hospitals and further out too, if they don't take us always have a plan B
  8. Has anyone done their BSN through them? Is it a legit for moving on to graduate/NP schools etc.? I heard they give letter grades which I heard is good for if you want to continue onto higher learning after your BSN. Should I do it through there or do a Cal state school? the cal state schools are in person and more expensive than UOP would be so that's why I didn't want to...
  9. I got in OMG!! Whoever didn't get in don't be worried. I have been applying to schools for couple years. You can do it keep trying!
  10. Nah, whats the point, people have been complaining about her for years and shes still there. Plus honestly even if I were to win the complaint and go back to the school and have her as my teacher again LOL no thanks. I don't need that much drama
  11. Did you talk to the clinical teachers and ask why you failed? Did they literally just fail you but never say what you are doing wrong?
  12. I’m in California, I’m sure you know how hard it is to get into nursing school here. My GPA wasn’t great so I got lucky to get into a community college program by lottery selection, no way I would get in merit-based schools! The first 8 weeks we were studying to pass the clinical checkoffs before we could get to clinical, If we failed a skill twice, we were out of the program. I did good in school, I was one of the top scoring people on all our tests. So the 2 day clinical check offs came after 8 weeks, the first day I passed, the second day I failed on the sterile wound dressing (common skill a lot of people failed their first time) And the second and final time I retested that skill with a really intimidating teacher watching me. I was put into a tiny and crowded corner of the room and once I had my sterile gloves on (you can’t touch anything with sterile technique) I was so cramped next to a curtain, I couldn’t move it beforehand because there was literally another person taking a test right next to me on other side of curtain. After I put sterile gloves on that dam curtain touched my gloves, so I automatically moved it away for a split second (by instinct) and she told me you’re out, I said OK and my friends all expected me to pass they were like woah you’re out? But you were the highest scoring in the class? I said well that dam curtain got me, they said ya I saw that retesting corner and it was REALLY tight. So basically I made that stupid mistake for a split second and I got kicked out. I feel so stupid for letting the pressure get to me. I knew better than that! A little background on the school, the administration was VERY rude. The teacher I had was known to be crazy rude and unprofessional, (been teaching there for years, shes notorious) she made some people cry in class. I was going to have her for my clinical too! I guess knowing that was coming also factored into me kind of not wanting to go to that school anymore … so I guess it was all of it combined. The sleepless nights, the crazy pressure we were under, the pressure of knowing that after this was done this lady is my clinical instructor as well! (Also one of my friends she was nice to. My friend failed a skill once, did the second skill with that teacher. The teacher stopped my friend in the middle of the skill and said “you don’t have to finish it, you passed!” Which I think is very unfair, but who am I. LOL what’s the point of reporting it now… Now I applied to other community colleges but if I don’t get in I’ll just go to private school, which is ganna cost me a lot of course. I feel SO bad that I let such an opportunity go. I hear a lot of schools have rude teachers and not the best community but people stick it out. ? On one hand I’m happy I left that terrible program but I just feel like a failure that I will have to pay so much for private school…IDK what to do I feel so numb inside
  13. did you get accepted? I never got an email and I called and they said they only sent out emails to ppl who were accepted or alternates so ya.....we probably didn't get in LOL. Whatever that place kind of gave me a bad vibe anyway tbh..
  14. it says on or before June 15 on the website
  15. what were your stats if you don't mind me asking? this is my second time applying and I raised up my grades ?
  16. Hi just wanted to see if anyone else has applied ?
  17. Hi just wanted to see if anyone else has applied ?
  18. I know, but im in california and its really hard to get in a public cheap nursing program like I did so....I have no choice but to stick it out or pay like 40k elsewhere ?
  19. LOL trust me NOBODY will willingly volunteer to be in that lady's class if they do they're crazy, its like volunteering to make your clinical 10 times more unpleasant and stressful. I don't think it would be easy to pass clinical with her, she was talking about the previous class and seemed REALLY strict, she said she kicked some guy out of clinical (and the whole program) because he put a blood pressure cuff over a bruise or something? she went to him and said, you're out of the program! go tell the dean of nursing you're out! And shes friends with the dean too so ya, theres nobody to complain to about her unprofessional behavior. When I heard that clinical kick out story from her own mouth, it was very concerning! thats why I want out!
  20. Theres 3 clinical professors, we haven't started clinical yet but we will after the clinical check offs. The people who fail checkoffs get kicked out. My clinical instructor (we can't choose) I ended up with the meanest lady, you know the kind, the one on a power trip and super negative. The two other instructors are way better and I'd rather be with them. We had 11 students in that clinical group, and my friend lucked out and got transferred somehow to the other clinical instructor (so they could go from 9 to 10, and we could have 10 instead of 11). My plan is, if after the clinical check offs some people get kicked out and the numbers end up uneven again, do you think it would be a good idea to email my mean instructor and tell her I volunteer myself to go to the other clinical group so our numbers will be even? Is that seen as unprofessional and will it piss her off? I will do anything I can to get into another group and I can't think of any other way.
  21. I'm an alternate at an LVN program, online it says if you don't get picked by the first day of class basically apply again next year, But I remember when I talked to the nursing counselor lady she said alternates have up until clinincals start to get in, I said when do they start? She said 8 weeks I can't get a hold of her but is this normal? Do alternates usually stick around for a couple weeks and go to class just like they are normal students? or do they have until the first day to get picked?
  22. oh OK my email is [email protected], we can help each other. Oh lord I didn't even know info about the class or registering I'm so in the dark LOL! not familiar with rio's school layout. so we can't register yet online it just shows the classes? OK good ?
  23. oh where does it say that, what class? LOL the info is so hard to find! The LVN director lady was no help she just told me look up last year's class when it started which I believe was jan 29th? so thats why I thought it was ganna start this month but now they moved it to February? Some of us work we need to know the schedule you know? ?.
