    NMC Application Police Report

Hello all, I just passed the NMC CBT and was planning on finishing the application while I figure out how to do the OSCE. On the application, it asks for a "police report"-- do you think a castle branch report which has run a full background check is OK? Or would there be another place to get this report that would be acceptable? Usually when applying for licenses within the USA, some states do fingerprints, and they handle the check themselves. I'm just not sure what to include as proper documentation here. Thank you!!

I can not answer this question as I am not a student there, but I can tell you that my advisor said that because the clinical sequence is sequential and each is offered only once/year--IF you have to sit out for a clinical term, you must wait ONE year before you can re-enter at the point you left off with. Theoretically, if this happens twice, you've taken nearly three years to complete clinical. I do not know if, or how often this happens or how much support drexel provides in the process.

My app was complete Jan 24--- I was told any apps complete by end of Jan would be reviewed in 4-6 weeks. It seems like they do these in chunks. The final deadline is June, so you are definitely NOT too late.

I'm sure you will hear back from GU soon. I did go into the GU student group (as I am in the onboarding process, I have my email, etc and am just waiting to register), and it seems that for the vast majority of students--there is no clinical placement issue--they are placed and they are happy with the quality of placement. Of course, for the few who do have issues--it is understandably panic inducing. But, after several conversations with students, it sounds like 1) they rave about the program and 2) they do get placed . It is a great group of students-- so depending on how the decisions roll in for you, I might not take GU off the table. The program does seem fantastic.

No, I appreciate the information. I swear, I was told specifically by admissions that no one went without a placement and only one person is a super isolated area ended up relocating. I just wish the schools would be honest with us. My understanding is that having sufficient clinical placements is a ccne requirement. If you know there are no placements in a given state, why take students? GU is 50K for the PMC and probably at least 90K for the MSN---not including the OCI travel. I'm just terribly bummed--even the B&M programs seem to be going "online" and I've known several colleagues who went to B&M and got screwed on placements. I will pay for a preceptor/use a service, but then why pay an additional 50K when I could just go somewhere less $$? Anyway, thank you---did you decide on your situation yet?

These boards are really, really concerning. The fact that GU students can't get placements in the DC area? If anything GU should have placements available there and have that as a last resort for online students who can't be placed in their home states. This is just so disappointing...I'm not sure that I should take this chance.

Great--do you have the FB lnk? I'll definitely join--I'd really like to know the deal before I lay down 50K

I would go with Texas Womans then.....if you can't place, you don't graduate. my gpa in my msn was a 3.9; I also have a MPH 3.7 and UG was 3.76 Sorry. The person I spoke to was in a larger city (More out west) but if you are in the NE they could have more connections to help placement.. Philly is a pretty big city with a ton of nursing , med and PA schools, so my sense is that placement may be quite tough. This is why I am so concerned

This is very interesting and very sad. I asked the admissions counselor last week about placement and she said she had never heard of anyone NOT being placed and only one student who relocated due to being in a very rural area. This definitely has me a bit concerned....

It was pretty quick--everything was forwarded on Jan 14th and then I got an email requesting a syllabus for my epidemiology class for the gap analysis for the PMC, a few days later. Then I got the accptance email Feb 3. When you say "mixed" clinical placement reviews--what do you mean? Honestly I don't see anything on all nurses about clinical placement, and very little about the program at all.

    Drexel University Fall 2020 MSN-FNP

My enrollment advisor said it would be 4-6 weeks post first review (that is if you got your app completed by end of Jan). I'm sure they are reviewing in order received--so if one applied in Oct/Nov, a decision might have already come through. If you applied close to the first review, then I would not expect to hear anything until mid-end of March.

I'd say you would find out something around mid-march-late march. I was told 4-6 weeks from end of January for a first round. I finished my app around Jan 20th. I don't really know how competitive Drexel is. It's very well regarded--but it also seems to be a large school and given the national "spread" of students, it may be that more spots are available than a traditional program. I'm not sure though!

Hello everyone, I have received acceptance to Georgetown's online FNP (this is for post MSN). Has anyone else been notified and if so, will you accept the offer? I would really, really love to hear from anyone attending GU--especially as it relates to clinicals and getting placed. I am very concerned about the clinical situation as I live in Philadelphia and there are tons of nursing schools here. Thank you for any info!

I'm sure they will help--it is a requirement after all to provide clinical experiences ....and at least they should have availabilities in Philly and perhaps southern NJ.
