Georgetown U FNP May 2020 Acceptance

Hello everyone,

I have received acceptance to Georgetown's online FNP (this is for post MSN). Has anyone else been notified and if so, will you accept the offer?

I would really, really love to hear from anyone attending GU--especially as it relates to clinicals and getting placed. I am very concerned about the clinical situation as I live in Philadelphia and there are tons of nursing schools here.

Thank you for any info!

My application is under review for the MSN-FNP. How long did it take to hear back? I have heard mixed reviews about clinical placement.

It was pretty quick--everything was forwarded on Jan 14th and then I got an email requesting a syllabus for my epidemiology class for the gap analysis for the PMC, a few days later. Then I got the accptance email Feb 3.

When you say "mixed" clinical placement reviews--what do you mean? Honestly I don't see anything on all nurses about clinical placement, and very little about the program at all.

I am talking to someone on FB messenger right now. I will try to copy and paste it.. hang on

I blocked out her/his state because they were so nice and I didn’t want to throw them under the bus. They said they would still recommend the program because of the education

I believe mine will officially start processing tomorrow. I received a call today about trouble locating transcripts, I believe it is because they were sent under my maiden name. Easy fix. However, I have a 3.0 and even though I wrote explaining the barriers I faced... I am unsure I will be accepted.

I have officially been accepted to University of Texas-Arlington but they require you to fill out a 50 contact spreadsheet in order for them to help with clinical placement ? but they are a third of the cost GU, so I could afford to pay a third party to find my preceptor...

I also applied to Texas Woman’s University... they state they do all of the clinical placement and do not want their student to worry about it. Have not heard back yet. I am under review.

This is very interesting and very sad. I asked the admissions counselor last week about placement and she said she had never heard of anyone NOT being placed and only one student who relocated due to being in a very rural area. This definitely has me a bit concerned....

Sorry. The person I spoke to was in a larger city (More out west) but if you are in the NE they could have more connections to help placement..

May I ask your GPA?

I would go with Texas Womans then.....if you can't place, you don't graduate.

my gpa in my msn was a 3.9; I also have a MPH 3.7 and UG was 3.76

Philly is a pretty big city with a ton of nursing , med and PA schools, so my sense is that placement may be quite tough. This is why I am so concerned

I can see the area of concern. They have a FB group. Maybe someone from your area can shed some light?
