Georgetown U FNP May 2020 Acceptance

Nursing Students NP Students

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone,

I have received acceptance to Georgetown's online FNP (this is for post MSN). Has anyone else been notified and if so, will you accept the offer?

I would really, really love to hear from anyone attending GU--especially as it relates to clinicals and getting placed. I am very concerned about the clinical situation as I live in Philadelphia and there are tons of nursing schools here.

Thank you for any info!

These boards are really, really concerning. The fact that GU students can't get placements in the DC area? If anything GU should have placements available there and have that as a last resort for online students who can't be placed in their home states. This is just so disappointing...I'm not sure that I should take this chance.

Sorry. I just thought you should know. You could always hire a third party if it becomes an issue or try a different school that has a better reputation with clinical placement

No, I appreciate the information. I swear, I was told specifically by admissions that no one went without a placement and only one person is a super isolated area ended up relocating. I just wish the schools would be honest with us. My understanding is that having sufficient clinical placements is a ccne requirement. If you know there are no placements in a given state, why take students? GU is 50K for the PMC and probably at least 90K for the MSN---not including the OCI travel. I'm just terribly bummed--even the B&M programs seem to be going "online" and I've known several colleagues who went to B&M and got screwed on placements.

I will pay for a preceptor/use a service, but then why pay an additional 50K when I could just go somewhere less $$? Anyway, thank you---did you decide on your situation yet?

I am attending UTA for now and will plan to use a third party for placement but I am still waiting to hear back from Texas woman's (they have guaranteed placement).. I have not heard back from GU but it is extremely costly to not be guaranteed placement. I really loathe that most programs are online now. I wish I could find a good hybrid

I'm sure you will hear back from GU soon. I did go into the GU student group (as I am in the onboarding process, I have my email, etc and am just waiting to register), and it seems that for the vast majority of students--there is no clinical placement issue--they are placed and they are happy with the quality of placement. Of course, for the few who do have issues--it is understandably panic inducing. But, after several conversations with students, it sounds like 1) they rave about the program and 2) they do get placed . It is a great group of students-- so depending on how the decisions roll in for you, I might not take GU off the table. The program does seem fantastic.

Hello, I was accepted to the MSN FNP program for Fall 2020! I’m excited but now that this is a reality I am determining if all of the pros outweigh the cons- mainly cost and now reading about possible placement issues, but I am not in DC area. I am currently in Ohio. Congrats on your acceptance! About to pay my $500 deposit, just doing a little research to find reassurance about my decision to enroll vs a more affordable state school. ?

Good luck with your decision making and congrats!

Did you end up attending Georgetown? I have applied for the May cohort and am interested in your thoughts of the program thus far if you ended up attending!

My application is under review for the MSN-FNP. How long did it take to hear back? I have heard mixed reviews about clinical placement.

How did it go?
