Yeah just type in WGU Prelicensure on Facebook under “groups” and it’s the one that has 2018 in the name and over 1000 group members. I encourage all Prelicensure applicants and students to look that group up and ask their questions and communicate there because a lot of the people in the WGU tag on allnurses are primarily doing the RN-BSN or RN-MSN programs.

At least you got in. And you have a 1 month head start. Are you in the WGU Prelicensure Support Group on Facebook?

I saw that my status had changed to admitted so I called my EC. He told me that they started selecting early for December 1st for Methodist and I was one of the few selected for December 1st so we’re not in a cohort together, but I’m so happy because Methodist is a magnet hospital and they’ll hire you if you do clinicals there. I’m so happy congrats on your admittance

The requirements for WGU are: Talk to an Enrollment Counselor Apply to WGU (application fee is $65 but I believe they offer a coupon to waive the fee) 2.75 GPA overall and a 2.75 GPA sciences (A&P I and II with labs, and Micro with lab) - Submit a transcript for an evaluation TEAS score of 60% overall and a 60% on the reading section Letter of Recommendation from supervisor or someone who’s seen you in a professional setting Letter of Intent (student statement about your journey towards nursing; has to be 1-2 pages long) Submit a professional resume Once you have all that in, speak with an enrollment counselor again just to follow up and ask any questions you may have. The deadlines are 60 days before the start date. So for you, you have to have everything submit and be qualified for consideration by October 1st to be considered for December 1st. Now as far as average stats, it really depends on where you are. The prelicensure program in CA is extremely competitive (they have a current application freeze because so many students are applying but they don’t have many locations to do clinicals). TX offers many locations and have start dates every couple months or so (Houston has a December 1st and January 1st start date). I don’t really know about Utah, Indiana, and Florida...but I’ve seen a rainbow of GPAs and TEAS scores for TX. I was told that an 80 or better for the TEAS overall and reading section but I also know a lot of people that are currently in the program that did not make those high scores. It just depends. Every case is different I guess.

Yeah everything is finished for me. My GPA is a 3.3, 90% on the TEAS, and I’m a Pharmacy Technician with other healthcare experience (was a prior nursing school student at a traditional BSN program). Yeah they cancelled the cohort that I would’ve done if I got selected for an October 1st start date so I asked if I could be considered for other locations that had start dates coming in November. My EC told me that we should hear something a week or two after the application deadline. He also told me that if I don’t get a phone call during the month, then I didn’t get selected, which he said would be a surprise. Since Labor Day was yesterday, they probably are about to start their selection process so hopefully we hear something at the end of this week or next week. I’m gonna try to control my anxiety for this round though lol. It’s just nerve wracking because they don’t let you know what went wrong if you don’t get selected and having to wait an entire month without a phone call or email (and not get in) is really crazy and stressful.

Good luck to you! I’m applying for a November 1st start date but in a different location in Texas. What are your stats, if you don’t mind me asking?

Yeah it was a good phone call. He verified what Ms. Grace told me about the October cohort and told me that he would be surprised if I don’t get selected for any cohort in the future. So you and I should both be fine. We have similar stats. Hopefully we’re in a cohort together!

Yeah that would be cool. I believe one of the cohorts will be the first one for the location it’s at so that would be good for us! My EC is supposed to be call me sometime today so hopefully he does and we can talk more about it.

Nope! I have an appointment with my enrollment counselor since September 1st is coming up. Hopefully September brings me good news with WGU. If I don’t get accepted into at least one of these cohorts, then something is clearly wrong. What about you? Have you had any status changes or have you spoken with anyone recently?

I’m currently also applying to Chamberlain which I feel I’ll get in but Chamberlain is expensive and I like the idea of being able to work and go to school because I have bills and I’m going through a potential job change. I also got accepted to an LVN program but it is expensive for an LVN program (pretty much the same as WGU) and I’m not trying to go through too much schooling.

Yeah I think that’s the best bet. You just called her? You can ask her to do that for you while you’re in the phone with her. She did it for me because I was unable to get ahold of my EC. Yes I’m ready to get starts as well. I was hoping for October buy I’ll be okay if I get a November 1st cohort. That just means more waiting.

I definitely agree! I told them to sign me up for a few other locations. There are three cohorts with a start date of Nov 1st so I asked to be considered for those. And no I called her because I was getting antsy. Hopefully she didn’t say this just to stop me from calling. But I believe it because she said that they just kind of found out as well.

I was told that it's because the hospital we would've been doing clinicals at isn't ready for a cohort at this time. I also have reason to believe that maybe a lot of people didn't apply for the Oct 1st start date. I know for a fact that more people are applying for December 1st.
