  1. I just sense a lot of resentment from many of the respondents on this board. The board of nursing is not in the business of snatching licenses away. I'm just wondering what everyone's situation was like as to cause you to become disgruntled with the ...
  2. the statistics are like 20% but if i was ever educated on the subject i don't remember? is that something they do now?

How to find addiction psychiatrist for board eval???

I had to begin at square one when I attempted to gain my license back, I'm kind of glad I didn't realize how long it was going to take after I took that first step. I really believed easy peasy I'm ready to work as a nurse again lol
  4. My program is non-profit (PA)
  5. I also, am an addict/alcoholic and PNAP saved my life. I just can't imagine any program being as crooked as what some are letting on. Are there no internal controls set in place to prevent abuse of their rights?
  6. I was told that our capital runs slowly and it's true. Took them a long time to decide to pull my license and just as long for me to get it back. I've never been treated unfairly though.

Nurses being reported on their spare time?

Generally, if the board gets an inclining there might be a risk of safety to the public, they are bound to refer the licensee to get an evaluation. Everything rides on the evaluation outcome. Of course things like criminal issues or intoxication on t...

    New Nurse/IPN

Absolutely it's worth it. All isn't lost here. Just be honest, complete the program and move on. The programs of monitoring are only as difficult as we make them. that's just my experience.

Nurses being reported on their spare time?

This doesn't have to be the case.

Nurses being reported on their spare time?

Most stories like what she's talking about are complicated for the board. They can request a hair examination to establish that she doesn't have a 'pattern of use'. Or otherwise.

    Tpapn dentist

Maybe your story is different than mine. I actually discovered I needed help for a substance abuse disorder as a direct result of board intervention. I'll yell it from the rooftops, if I think it'll save me from potential relapse. For me, aside from ...

    Thinking of cutting loses

Welcome to nursing! If you don't wonder if it's all really worth it at least once a week, then you ain't doing it right. Push through, I promise you'll have more days where you'll be thankful you did

Just for your info, a reg flag is also raised for other medications that can and do pop up in urine. Not just narcs. 100% transparency on the part of the program participant saves us from being placed under any undue scrutiny. Also, if I did what you...

    Avoiding a dilute?

I have never had to pay any attention to risk of dilute urine depending what time of day I had to provide a specimen and/or hydrating in a normal manner. Provided you're not chugging water you should be fine.

How to find addiction psychiatrist for board eval???

My first eval was at a local D&A counseling place. It didn't count for the official eval but then again I was so far in denial at that time that I showed up after drinking and didn't think it was a big deal smh

    Testing- hair/nails/peth

4 years I've spent probably close to 8K or more on random testing for my monitoring.2-3 times a month I could get resentful, but I'm grateful! For one thing be sure I would have spent 3x that on drugs and alcohol before and secondly how much is my li...

How to find addiction psychiatrist for board eval???

FYI in my state it has to be a board approved facility that evaluates you in order to 'count'

    Obsessing

Absolutely! Getting back to work and applying the new coping skills I learned is hard work! I lose my 'emotional sobriety' like 10 times a day on a bad day lol but the thing is I wake up everyday for the past 4 years and make the decision that I'm no...

    To TPAPN or not...

Take my advice, monitoring is not optional. I assumed it was after my first brush with the board and then when I really needed it I was initially ineligible because I fought them the first time around.

Nurses being reported on their spare time?

Also, I urge you to take a look at the path you're on. The fact that you're fearful of board consequences says a lot to someone who's been there myself. If you explain what happened to your employer's HR dept before the board gets wind of it then the...

Nurses being reported on their spare time?

You could get reported. If you were that nurse, would you have fallen for someone saying 'they were slipped' drugs? I can't tell you how many times ER nurses hear that. Did she know that you're a nurse? When I got a notice that the board of nursing ...
