Ridiculous BSN rules in southern california?

I don't think this is unfair. With so many applying, the schools are going to choose the best and brightest. If the schools wants to consider GPA only and limit applications - that is their choice....

    Are we all old???

Ok, I haven't read the entire thread. All I can say is...OLD IS THE NEW

Anybody else ever have trouble explaining.

This is how some of my family is. One side of my family is snobbish and looks down their noses at community college, and the other side thinks I should be able to enroll in community college nursing...

A&P: Really Hard vs. Just a lot of material

A&P I seemed like a huge memorizing load to me at first. I had not been in school or learning mode since high school many, many years prior. So I do understand feeling overwhelmed at first. By the...

    Are theses classes hard??

I'm not sure how to answer the question. Chemistry twists my brain. I got an 'A' in my first chemistry class and next month I start organic/biochem which will end in another 'A' but it might be...
  6. Thank you, llg. Congratulations on your weight loss! The talk about the girls - for the first time in years I have some voluptuous girls. I'll be sad to see them
  7. Here I am again. I've gained 8 lbs since I posted this last March. I got overwhelmed with taking 19 credits last semester, and I stopped going to the gym - while increasing my intake. I weigh 136 lbs....

    Any PhD nurses out there?

There are a couple of PhD RNs here on the site (that I'm aware of). Hopefully they'll see this thread and chime

Anyone here drink a can of soda a day?

I quit soda years ago. I missed it at first, then stopped missing it and forgot about it. I will occasionally have a coke if I go out for pizza. So I'm not rabid about it. So yeah, I do think soda is...

    why aren't gummas infectious?

Well you learn something new every day. I clicked on this thread thinking of 'gummas' from the

How do you handle lazy lab partners?

I have had good lab partners. On the first day of class, walking in, I scan the group like crazy and then sit next to the most responsible, smart looking person I can find. I'm sure this won't always...

    Relocating..visiting in July. Buckeye??

We have a misunderstanding, Jess! Maybe my last post didn't make my sentiment clear. I was trying to give a nod to you and acknowledge that you made a good point. I was also trying to make amends...

    "The Jesus Factor"

You don't know that I'm 'reading into' anything. I'm not talking about mere pamphlets but rather common teachings within many Evangelical circles. This particular topic has been a sidetrack to the...

    "The Jesus Factor"

It's too bad that you perceive my thoughts and feelings as "looking for offense." For years, I've seen literature from Evangelical circles and heard statements from several Evangelical mega pastors...

    "The Jesus Factor"

FYI - I have heard this too. Assumptions that I have been 'hurt by Christians'. Actually, that statement can be irritating. It doesn't necessarily have to do with hurt. It can be a reflex due to...

    "The Jesus Factor"

Thing is, the proselytizer may not think he or she is jamming Jesus down anyone's throat. They may be so ferverent that they don't even see (consciously) the signs of discomfort, let alone the ethics...

    "The Jesus Factor"

I don't think it would be appropriate to ask for a non-Christian nurse. Instead, it would be appropriate to ask for another nurse if one is

    "The Jesus Factor"

skimming the surface of this statement - it almost sounds ethically alright. but digging deeper - think about the power imbalance between nurse and patient. it's not like talking in a social setting...

    "The Jesus Factor"

Exactly. This is why a nurse like your co-worker would probably make all the appropriate noises about respecting boundaries if asked - and then privately ignore boundary violations as if they didn't...

A Nurse's Life, Now With Open Eyes

I've read this book. It made sense to me. I'm a pre-nursing student. I think I'm aware that there is obviously a great deal I'm still unaware of. That said, I go into this becoming an RN process with...

    Comparing nursing schools

Be careful looking at NCLEX pass rates. Schools have different policies, and some programs intend to weed certain students out at the end, so they cannot take the NCLEX at all. Such schools may fail a...
