  1. Drinking at work? Anyone with prior experience?

Hello all, I am a chronic alcoholic who has been drinking large amounts of alcohol for approximately 5-6 years. It hasn’t ever crossed paths with my work until a few months ago when I was stupid enough to drink a beer while at work. Without expo...
  2. Self-Isolation at Home? LTC Home Outbreak.

Hello all! I am looking for some advice regarding self-isolation at home. I am an RPN working in a LTC home that is currently in outbreak. We have several residents and staff members who have tested positive. Our house has a basement with it’s own ba...
  3. Woman dies from tap water netipot use

Oddly enough I did a project about this very phenomenon in nursing school. It has happened a handful of times all over the world. Apparently the warning on the side of the box isn't followed very frequently.
  4. Hey friends! Just wondering if anyone else experiences this in their practice. Often, when crushing certain medications frequently, I find that I begin sneezing/having nasal congestion. Biggest suspect for me is plain Tylenol, which I give probably 3...
  5. Nasal Irritation From Crushing Medications?

Oh interesting! I'm not sure how well this will work with the 15+ medications some folks get, but I will certainly have to give this a go tomorrow at work! Thank you.

Unfortunately the LTC I work for has weekly strips for medications, which come pre-packaged. The plastic material they come in is very flimsy and will develop a tear quickly.
  7. Nasal Irritation From Crushing Medications?

Oh no I can imagine that perfectly... it does "poof" up when poured. Glad to hear you were able to find a solution.
  8. Nasal Irritation From Crushing Medications?

    Oh yuck!
  9. Struggling, am I a crappy nurse?

Nope not at all! We're going through a similar phase at my LTC. Five residents passed in two months on one ward. I'm sure you did all you could to prevent it, but we can't play God. People pass away every day.
  10. IM Injections Given Too Low?

Hey all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm a newer nurse, graduated in April as an RPN, and have been working in a long term care facility since. I have given a fair share of IM injections over schooling, practical, and working. Yesterday, my...
  11. IM Injections Given Too Low?

A flu shot in one arm (the one with the larger red spot) and a shingles vaccination in the other. Apparently it what the physician who administered. He just confirmed that yes, he was wearing long sleeves. Very astute of you to assume that right off...
