  4. Savory Dilators Traceability and Storage

    Thank you!!
  5. Would like to know how your Endoscopy Lab stores their Savory Dilators. Recent Joint Commission Surveys have cited facilities for storing them flat in the carrying case. Reason: 1. Should hang vertical to allow draining/drying of wire channel 2. La...

  8. Disposable Bronchoscopes

I work in the Endoscopy Lab and we get called in during the night for emergent bronchoscopies by the Pulmonologist. Often times the House Supervisor has retrieved the bronchoscope cart for them, due to the urgency of the situation, and the procedure...

  14. As a department specific clinical educator you are destined to find mistakes made by staff during your daily work. Are you expected to report these to the unit manager? How do you decide when to report and when not to report an error? What do you...
  15. Maintaining "trust" with staff as a clinical educator

I agree. Yes, I will ask her to do that! Thanks!
  16. Maintaining "trust" with staff as a clinical educator

Yes, I definitely have some of those personality types in the department. I guess when I start the position (in the near future), when it is announced, I will tell them collectively that my job is to educate and remediate but also let them know what ...
  17. Maintaining "trust" with staff as a clinical educator

Yes, we are encouraged to do self reporting of errors and most do but there are a couple that feel like the Director "doesn't like them" and fear being reprimanded. These are the same ones who have repeated mistakes. They accuse the charge nurses of...

  22. Emergency Bronchoscopy in middle of the night

Thanks so much for the response. We don't have residents as we are not a teaching hospital but we do have O.R. staff in the building 24 hours a day so that is a good suggestion for them to clean the scope. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks for your response GiDiva2012! Some other thing I heard about this week are: 1. Precise measuring of the detergent put into the sink for manual cleaning of scopes. Does it follow the detergent's recommendation? 2. Not writing open and expi...
