I’ve seen/heard some suspicious things…

Wayne State University Students: I have a question for you
What is WSU college of nursing doing to help students pass the NCLEX? Is UWorld started from the beginning of the semester?
- Will it be a problem if you graduated from an non accredited school?

I'm afraid I'll get in trouble even if I leave.

Classmates failed nursing exam, posted test banks in group chat. Will I get in trouble?
Our first nursing quiz was Tuesday and a few of my classmates flunked it. They started asking if anyone remembers questions in the group chat and then someone pulled up a website that has the exact questions we had on our quiz. I didn't participate in the conversation, I'm just in the group. Will I still get in trouble if faculty finds out?

CNA while awaiting a year?
You should TOTALLY DO IT! I did it on a break and it re ignited my passion for nursing. It is a great experience for a future nursing student. Especially in the hospital. If you’re helpful to the nurses, some of them will show you or let you do things out of your scope since they know you’re pursuing nursing. Some hospitals will train you on the job and don’t require the certification, check out the job descriptions to be sure.

LPN or Medical Assistant?
It depends on your goals. I chose MA because it was a short program and less expensive. I could start working in healthcare and earning money while taking my prerequisites and applying to RN school. I didn’t want to put my prerequisites on hold because I’d hate to go back for prereqs after I’m an LPN. you’d have a better chance getting hired in Drs offices as an MA because we’re trained to do administrative and clinical tasks and we’re cheaper to hire. As an MA in an urgent care I get paid the about the same as my LPN coworker, I think she makes 50 cents more. An LPN that works in LTC, agency, home health, or corrections gets paid more than an MA that works in drs offices and other clinical settings. Job opportunities depend on your location but I had 3 opportunities available before I got certified. Since covid, many doctors offices are doing telehealth If your end goal is to work in Drs offices I would 100% go for LPN because MAs don’t get paid enough for all the things they expect us to do.

How to Be Successful in Anatomy and Physiology 1
Chase that A! Your reasoning for why people shouldn’t work for their A grade does not make sense. And it doesn’t make sense to say if your goal is to earn an A then you won’t be able to focus on content to build a strong foundation. The A grade is proof that you focused on the content and were able to build a strong foundation. Always do your best, especially in nursing. An A always trumps a B or C. A lower grade is a clear indicator that you do not have as much of a strong understanding/working knowledge of anatomy as someone with an A.

Wcccd RN program
I’ve applied. This question was brought up a lot as I was doing my prerequisites and as far as I’ve heard, graduates have no issue getting hired. I know of a girl who got hired at university of Michigan in the pediatric ICU. People are debating on whether or not Beaumont hires wcccd grads.

HESI Please help give me pointers! ?
Hey are either of you applying to wcccd for fall 2021?

Volunteer or CNA
I vote for CNA. You don’t get to do as much when you’re a volunteer. As a CNA you get to do direct patient care and learn skills that you will use as a registered nurse. And it really helps keep the end goal in mind. I was a volunteer in a hospital for 4 months and then after that I’ve been a Medical Assistant for 6 months while going to school.

Is it a bad idea to enroll in program that only has STATE Accreditation?
Ugh...how are students still sitting for the NCLEX there?
-
Wcccd
I met wc3 students when I volunteered at the hospital and they told me they were there twice a week. but I was also told that it varies from each cohort and their semester. I'm applying this semester so I can forward that info to you when I get it, if you want?
-
Wcccd
You don't have to get all A's to apply for wcccd. the minimum GPA is a 2.8 and 75% on the entrance exam. People are getting accepted with those scores.

What is the best option for me? - Low GPA wanting ABSN
Are you saying youre planning on taking A&P 1 and 2 and micro in the same Summer semester?

Is it a bad idea to enroll in program that only has STATE Accreditation?
So the ADN program I applied to only has State accreditation not National...I was told that they are working to obtain National accreditation. Is that a bad thing and will I regret staying here?

HFCC Winter 2021
Congratulations on going to chamberlain! Whats it like? How has it been for you?
-
C in Anatomy 1
You should take it again to increase your chances of getting in on the first try. You have to consider that there will be other applicants applying with an A or B in anatomy who may be picked over you.

HFCC Winter 2021
Did anyone get accepted?

Wcccd 2021
Congratulations! Do you mind sharing the prerequisite GPA you applied with?

Wcccd 2021
I am. I'm super nervous about this too. I just hope my acceptance essay makes sense and I do well on the entrance exam. I wonder what the average GPA for applicants was last semester and this semester.

Physical vs Electronic application?
Is it best to apply physically or electronically? My school has the option to do an electronic application and you submit it by email. It sounds nice but I’m a little afraid to use it because I’m afraid of running into technical difficulties, app gets lost, etc.

Wcccd 2019 hopefuls
Hey, if you don't mind me asking what were your GPA/grades in your prerequisites? I want to apply for Spring 2020 ?

It's too late, isn't it? Advice and more+
I don't think it would be a good idea to take A&P 2 when you haven't passed A&P 1. It's not like it gets easier. Don't worry and stress out about being accepted into a program yet, just focus completely on passing A&P 1. There's not much you can do besides figuring out why you're not retaining any of the information... can you hire a tutor? Maybe you should take A&P 1 alone so you'll have all the time you need to study. Or maybe you should take a different path like enrolling in an LPN program and then an LPN to RN bridge program?
