    Experience before Travel Nursing?

I've been doing this for 10 years and I still don't think I know enough to travel!!! But it's a matter of comfort level as much as training. 10 months is not enough. Swelllz is right- you don't know...

How all Paradise schools evacuated with no deaths

Not going to lie. I'm a big ol' mess of bawling up in here. In Olympia WA the year we had the giant 6-ish-on-the-Richter-scale earthquake, my son's teacher sat in a dark gym and read stories to the...

What's next for the new grad?

First, you'll need to spin why you left the residency as positively as possible. It will do no good to say they were racist unless you have specifically documented instances written down somewhere....

DWI in New Jersey, Application Under Legal Review

Good answer, Persephone! Have you consulted a lawyer? At this point I don't think you can afford not to have a lawyer. Good

    Nursing School Terrors

We cannot give legal advice here, but I'd tell you to immediately seek counsel and don't say or write anything more about this until you've lawyered

Drowning on the floor...only 2 months in. HELP!

Yes. It will go away. But not immediately. You have a couple of choices here: attempt to find another job in another hospital, citing the unsafe ratio as the reason for your leaving; or Hang in there,...

    Stay at this job?

One of my favorite singers is Sturgill Simpson. He has this to say: If there's any doubt, there is no doubt/Your gut don't ever lie.... Good

    RN working for Federal Government

And...depending on how long you've been there, maybe you get your Medicare part B premiums paid for, too. Go to the case managers section of AN and see if you can glean any more info. Good
  12. Exactly. Sense of humor intact. This is not permanent. Surely you know what specifically you need to improve on, yes? Also - take heart: I did a BSN to RN conversion (different than yours but no so...

    Sensitive topic--Pertussis

I feel you. So...did you have to exclude the non-vaccinated kids around the student? What about the women who are pregnant or new moms? Or new

1 year experience, feel like i'm getting worse

That's the spirit! You're probably not getting worse. You're in the ortho/neuro unit...and that's a beat down. Moments of peril followed by days of the same routine (at least that's how it was when I...

    Sensitive topic--Pertussis

There is - but it resides at the local health jurisdiction and also depends on docs doing testing/culture rather than just treating empirically. Cough of extensive duration is not a reason to exclude...

AAAAHHH. I see. We're not using the current best practice but we're using collective history. Hey - it's not a bad thing but I wish the director had consulted public

    Conjunctivitis

Bless that doctor's office. Really. Whatever. That's just not helpful. Redness that seems to resolve with a cool pack, that is not itchy, crusty or matted...that can stay. Goopy conjunctival redness...

    still getting my feet wet

I salute both of you! Axel has some great advice. The only time I would question your questions is if you had been asking the same question for, say, three days in a row. Do what you can. Ask when...
  25. This is not uncommon (as previously mentioned). You need to be kind to yourself. It takes a good year to transition from task-based nursing to the very edge of competent nursing care (and longer to...
