  1. Travel RN to New FNP - Is it worth it?

Crazy how life changes. I was in an ENP program and withdrew to pursue nurse anesthesia school...
  2. New Cardiothoractic ICU job

I forgot one more person, Pam Bartley, I used her to pass the CEN and also used her to supplement my study material from Nicole Kupchik. If you already have your CEN, you'll definitely transition well because you already have critical thinking down. ...
  3. New Cardiothoractic ICU job

I transitioned to the Cardiac ICU (nonsurgical patients) a year ago from the ED and the learning curve wasn't too bad. You'll transition relatively easy especially if you're coming from a level 1 trauma center. I went from a high acuity community hos...
  4. Jefferson University FACT-1/FACT-2 2024 ABSN

I graduated from the FACT-1 Program years ago and it looks like the FACT-1 program favored those with GPAs 3.5+ meanwhile they placed those in the FACT-2 cohort with a 3.4 or less. You can also make yourself more competitive with volunteering and com...
  5. Mary Baldwin CRNA 2023

I scored 3rd quartile on the Casper no interview as yet. Also, I think this thread is for last year's application cycle.
  6. At this point you're arguing just to argue. I answered the OP's question and I answered your question about what's considered fluff. You're adding more unnecessary assumptions. Nowhere did I say a traditional BSN only starts with 18 year olds. The OP...
  7. When the op stated "can a second degree student apply for a traditional BSN”…so if they went that route they would take those courses over. an accelerated BSN is not a traditional BSN.
  8. These courses are fluff and shouldn't be taken a second time during a second degree BSN. I'm responding to the question regarding what's considered fluff so yes these are fluff. If the OP didn't have a previous degree then those would be useful. Thes...
  9. If you already have a 4 year degree...and decide to return to school for a 4 year BSN...everything outside of your core nursing curriculum is considered FLUFF; math, english, psychology, philosophy, nutrition (yes a generalized nutrition course), wri...
  10. Mine was 12 months and I went insane a few times LOL. Still recommend it for those who just want to get in and get out. There was another local program that was 11 months. As for the OP, yes, you can apply to traditional BSN but I don't know wh...
  11. RN to BSN or simply BSN?

A BSN allows you take the NCLEX-RN upon graduation which grants you practice authority.
  12. Grady Or Piedmont

If CRNA is the end goal you might as well skip the ED and go straight to the ICU at either hospitals. Although some programs accept ED experience, majority of them will take an ICU nurse over an ED-only nurse. However, if you do ED because you're hig...
  13. Midwestern University CRNA Applicants 2024

On the log in page, does it show "missing application items?” Or top left hover over application > application checklist > missing items? if not IDK.
  14. Midwestern University CRNA Applicants 2024

You have to create a new online portal account and it somehow links it to your submitted application.
  15. Midwestern University CRNA Applicants 2024

    It's open from Nov 1-Feb 1.
  16. New Mexico State University (NMSU) CRNA 2024

I have not applied yet but interested in this program Current stats: 5 years ED experience (Preceptor, charge, USGIV certified) 10 months CICU (charge) 3.54 (1st degree), 3.66 (BSN 2nd degree) CEN, CCRN-CMC, BLS, ACLS, ...
  17. Thomas Jefferson CRNA 2024

Nah I think it means your application is still under review.
  18. Mary Baldwin CRNA 2023

I'd like to know this as well. Applying this cycle.
  19. Left the ICU after 1.5 yrs, where to next?

Good luck in this new position!
  20. Thomas Jefferson CRNA 2024

I applied, waiting for two of my references to submit my LOR.
  21. Med assistants are nurses?

Not legally...but MAs are lumped in the nursing category for the same reason when you're on a company's website to apply for a job and you click "nursing"...CNAs, MAs, and nursing techs are listed under it. When I was a MA, the front desk would ...
  22. No. No one truly cares what your degree is. At least, not where I work. An RN is an RN no matter the degree (Diploma, ASN, BSN, MSN). We're all in the trenches at the bedside. Go in with a "I am here to learn" attitude.
  23. Left the ICU after 1.5 yrs, where to next?

Give the ED a shot? It's definitely going to be a challenge because you're switching mindset from "I need to know every single detail" to "I only care for what is presented in front of me" and ship off. That said, that's what I LOVE about the ED. But...
  24. Y-site compatibility

Epic has lexicomp embedded in the MAR for trissel's compatibility. From my understanding, all vasoactive infusions are compatible with each other and all sedations are compatible with each other.
  25. Elevated Ammonia level

...that wasn't the point I was trying to make. The point is...the buck stops with the doc as proven above. That's normal...scary yes...but that's hierarchical health care for ya (hence the sugar coated term go up the chain of command). If the attendi...
