TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
Thanks for the info The school sent the transcript so I'm not sure if they used USPS how long it will take. NursingCAS said no more than 7 business days. Its been about 10. I hope they get it soon. I wish I would've sent transcripts in a long time ago. I got so caught up studying for the TEAS that I completely forgot. Also, can I just say that this thread is pretty dead at this time compared to previous TWU threads. Anyone else notice that? Maybe it's a good sign for us?

Can I ask to informed you that you had to have your transcripts received by the deadline? NursingCAS told me today and last week that they don't have to be received, just ordered. And I think an advisor also told me the same. I'm starting to freak out about one of my transcripts. It had to be mailed and it's taking forever for them to receive it. ??

That's so weird, I was told the opposite. I was told that as long as the transcript was sent out before the deadline I could submit my application. This was from NursingCAS. But now that I think about it, I think I was also told the same thing from the nursing advisor I spoke to. I'm going to call monday to find out for sure because one of my transcripts had to be mailed and it might take a while for NursingCAS to receive it. Doesn't really make sense that they must have received it by the deadline. TWU already admitted us with our transcripts.

I spoke with someone at NursingCAS about this and they said you can submit your application without them receiving the transcripts. As long as you send your transcripts to them by Feb 1st, then they let you submit it. Double check with them of course, but this is what I was told by someone over at NursingCAS.

TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
Just got out of my TEAS exam. I couldn't for the life of me focus on the reading or math section. Idk what it was. Maybe nerves? I got an average 88.7% score. I'm disappointed because I knew I could do so much better on the math and reading if I could only focus. I got high 90s on those sections from the two practice exams. Idk what happened. ? Anyway, I'm now sitting at a score of 48.6 for TWU Houston. I don't even know if that's competitive. I think a 47 was the lowest score admitted last fall? I don't remember. Lol I am just so bummed out! I'm gonna take a nap now lol

Oh man I hate to say this lol but it only gets more complicated from here! Lol once accepted, you have to submit pretty much titers for all of your vaccinations or proof of having had got them in a certain number of years past. Then you also have to submit proof of health insurance, FBI backgroung clearance through the BON, and BLS certification, etc etc. But once you got everything down, you don't really have to worry about it until right before the next semester. They ask that you update everything and make sure that you are still current. But it'll all be worth it!

So I was in a nursing program fora year so I kinda have some insight on this, although it wasn't at TWU. When my nursing school wanted proof of vaccinations, they asked for hep b titers only. If the titer showed a numerical immunity, then that was all we needed to submit. If you no longer had immunity, you had to provide proof that you had the vaccine as a kid then get the booster I believe. Every school, like you mentioned, does have different requirements for that last part of the process. However, I am like 90% sure that most schools in Houston only initially ask for a + immunity via titers. If you have that, you should be good. I know it takes a while to show immunity after receiving a booster or series. That being said, I would call TWU or email one of the advisors and ask them to be sure.

In the same page that you downloaded the spreadsheet from there is a link to the instructions on how to insert your grades into the spreadsheet. For example, If you have an A in a course you insert a number 4 for that class. If you have a B you insert a 3. Etc. Did you take a look at that? Maybe you didn't insert the grades correctly?

The spreadsheet will give you your score once you insert everything, including your TEAS score. So make sure you put that in as well.

Does anyone have any good online resources to study the English part of the TEAS exam? I've never been good at grammar and English language rules. I have my exam soon and I can't for the life of me score more than a 65 on that section on practice exams. I score above 90s on all the other sections on my practice exams but this English section is gonna kill my chances of being accepted to TWU.- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
I was told the same thing by an advisor. As long as the NursingCAS application was submitted by the deadline, we should be good.- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
@BlondeBSNHopeful Hi I was reading in another thread that you were accepted to TWU for Spring 2020 (IIRC). Have they given you guys a sort of overview on what your schedules will look like? Do they recommend that you guys live closer to campus?- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
I don't think you need to wait the 30 days to retake the TEAS. If you go on TWUs website and click on the TEAS section, there is a document that gives you instructions about taking the TEAS and it specifically says that they don't have a waiting period before retry's. As long as you don't take it more than twice between August-Feb, you're good. (might be wrong on that date, double check). I also read on the TEAS website that the school receives your score right away if you take it at TWU or within 2 hours if you don't. So while it may take NursingCAS 2 weeks to verify your documents like transcripts etc, I don't think it takes 2 weeks for them to receive and process your TEAS score. Again, I might be wrong so double check. If anyone can confirm or correct what I said, please do.- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
Thank you for the response! Doesn't sound too bad. Im afraid of the English section as well. I bought the practice tests on ATIs website, their book, and I bought the mometrix ati book. I took the practice test and did well on all sections except the English section. Too many grammar rules I need to learn ? lol- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
That's a great score! How did you do on the TEAS? Was it difficult? Do-able?- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
I am. If I don't get accepted, oh well! Lol it's just one class. I mean if you can afford it, why not right? I really don't want to take it in the summer because it's going to be a shorter course, making it harder and I have a little girl. So I don't think I can do summer. Actually, I know I can't. I failed my nursing program at Lonestar this summer because it was too much work compressed into one summer and I had my little girl plus a family emergency come up. So I know I can't do summer with a toddler.- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
I applied on 12/11 and was accepted 12/17. So it took 4 business days. I submitted all my transcripts the day I applied and my schools sent them electronically so TWU got them the very next day. I also applied for the spring semester instead of the fall. I want to take Pathophysiology because I've heard it's extremely difficult to take it during the nursing program. Maybe since I chose spring they rushed the admission process?- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
In case anyone was wondering, it took 4 business days for me to get accepted into TWU. Beats 6 weeks! Lol- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
I really hope they only go based off of their point system lol Lone Star does the same thing so it was pretty easy to gauge how competitive my app was compared to others. I did 3 semesters at Lonestar Cyfair's ADN program. A family emergency came up during my summer semester and due to it being such a compressed semester and the family emergency, the stress was immense and I ended up failing ? so this would be my second go at nursing school.- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
Thank you for the tips! I have a question that idk if you know the answer to but if anyone else reading this does then you're welcome to respond. Anyway, do you know if TWU bases their admission solely on their point system? I applied to UTHealth here in Houston and their website sorta makes it seem like all that they base their admission on is GPA and HESI scores (they don't have a point system). However, after attending their info session, the advisor basically said that they do look at GPA and HESI but they also consider overall academic performance and trends. So if you have a lot of Fs or repeats on your transcript they might not admit you. I did HORRIBLE in college when I was fresh out of high school. I have several Fs on my transcript from the first college I went too. (Which is probably why I got rejected from UTH last fall). However, I have since retaken these courses and passed them. I'm hoping TWU goes only based off of their point system because if that's the case, I'm sure my application could be competitive as long as I score well on the TEAS. But if they also look at overall academic performance, I'm screwed lol- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
Thank you. I'm kinda late in the game here. I just realized I'm eligible to apply so I'm barely applying. Hopefully, I can get everything in on time. I know it takes up to 6 weeks for admission into TWU.- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
Thank you. I have an advising appointment for Friday. Do you know if the TEAS has to be taken at the Denton campus? I'm trying to register for it but the website only mentions the test dates at the Denton campus.- TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
Did anyone attend the Houston information session on the 5th? I wasn't able to attend and was wondering if anyone could tell me anything they learned at the session that isn't on the website. - TWU Fall 2020 Applicants
