You actually can't do both. If you choose to be an alternate, and you don't get in, you don't get automatic admission into the February cohort.

I didn't get accepted to the October 2017 cohort but I did get accepted into the February 2018 cohort if I choose that option. I can also choose to enroll as an alternate but without any guarantee of getting in, obviously, haha. I'm not sure which op...
