Just wondering if anyone that started out working a PRN position, then switch to part or full time in the same facility experience a paycut and how much? Thanks :)

I did. I had a 20% bonus for being PRN, but lost it when I went FT. Of course, now I have PTO time and benefits, so it all works out.

I did the opposite, was working fulltime and went contingent and lost a lot of income, as well as benefits. The freedom to pick the days I work and not be obligated to every other weekend shifts is worth it, I think? I would expect your hourly rate to drop quite a bit if you change your status.

I thought I had read that full benefits often account for approximately 20-30% of your total compensation package. In fact, I think I used to get a mailer from my employer outlining exactly how much comes out of their pocket towards me, and it's substantially more than my paycheck reveals. That part of your pay just never passes through your bank account. It's a great deal for people who don't need the employer's benefits because they have them some other way for example through a spouse.

Went from contingent with no benefits to full-time with benefits...approximately $10/hr pay cut.

Yep, prn gets a 10% differential but no benefits, so if you switch, you get 10% less an hour but get full benefits.

I work PRN/per diem and receive a pay rate of $36 hourly. If I were to change my status to full-time or part-time, my rate would drop to $25 hourly.
Yea, I figured it will drop if or when I change over to full or part time. Just seeing what kind of cuts some nurses experienced. Thank you!
