Reminds Me Of The Old Your At A Picnic Story And Lightning Strikes, Who Do You Save. Always The Ones Who Are Still Breathing, Not Enough Hands For All The Cpr.

You want to save the most people that you can. Exmaple, a person that is coding is going to need more than one person to assist, and that will take time away from getting more to survive. You are focused on saving the greatest number of people.

What you are speaking is called Disaster Triage, and is quite different from what you do in a hospital setting in a normal day. But again, if a disaster were to hit the hospital, all rules change. The ones that have the best chance of surviving are taken out first.

I also get confused with this.. I read the articles you sent me but when it comes to answering NCLEX type of questions I get confused. Ok, correct me if I'm wrong...when dealing with injured people in a disaster like an earhtquake, car crash etc. you save the ones that are least injured first ( injuries with no airway compromise, fracture, minor bleeding); then when they get to the ER, you will save the most critical first (airway compromise, decreased LOC, severe bleeding)???? Am I understanding it right??? Thanks:)

Remember, you clear out those that are not injured or the walking wounded first, then you go onto the next.

At a disaster site, when doing triage, you do not have any supplies with you. Just as if you were wlaking by and were the first on the scene. Think of it that way.

You do not have a stethescope, what are you going to do? You do not have bandages to apply pressure, etc.

One more question, as far as with my review with the saunders CD...so far I have practiced about 4000 questions already doing multiple categories and subcategories I have been scoring in the 80's now but I noticed that when I review my score, in the analysis part I'm only scoring in the low 60's..do you think this is good? I heard that analysis is the same thing as critical thinking and if you score high in this category, the chance s of passing is great...Do I need to worry?????

I am doing also Saunders right now. I did 8 Examen a 100 Questions from analysis area and I am scoring about 72, and every time I take it I am not doing better. The first time when I have started with Comprehension I did sometimes 82, so it was better. I think analysis is more difficult because all the meds there. I didn't schedule for the NCLEX yet (just got the egibility from the BON after long waiting ;i am a foreign nurse). But I am planning to take it soon.

I will soon be done with Lpn school 9 days to be exact including my preceptorship. Am curious about Kaplan ,where to I find info on it, is it an online

or a classroom program. I am from Iowa and how do I go about finding out about it.
