Prior Enlisted- New BSN- Hopeful Navy NC

Hello,

This seems to be the best forum for answers. Hope y'all can help.

I did 6 years AD with the Navy and got out in 2011 with an Honorable discharge. I've completed my Bachelors in Nursing this spring and am actively looking to rejoin as an officer in direct commission. I spoke with a recruiter who told me 3 months is the minimum of experience needed to even submit a package. I'm looking for any sort of feedback from anyone whose went through the process. Is this minimum true? I trust, but I also verify. Would my rank upon commission be O1E/ENS? Or would my prior service help with a bump? I'm hoping to commission in the next year, thank you for any help!

Prior enlisted service doesn't help with initial officer rank. But with 6 years of prior service, you should definitely get that sweet O1E pay! :)

Thank you! I thought so.

You get O1E with 6 years of service. That means you're making about $4,000 per month in base pay alone. That is compared to a brand new O1 with 0 years in who makes about $3,000 per month.

@Nurse Devo,

I am also prior enlisted and finishing my BSN. I have been searching for a OSO recruiter who does Nurse Corps recruitment. The virtual recruiter sent me an email stating to just keep my GPA competitive and apply three months out. However, I have been reading other feeds and it appears that there are many applicants who had quite the application process. I have also read that they only allot so many nurses per FY. If you have any of this information could you please share it with me. I can't seem to get ahold of the OSO recruiter in my area-the closest one is in Minneapolis which is about 6 hours from where I live now.

Thanks!
