Hey LukeShoe, I also missed the deadline for the NCP this year as well, I was totally bummed out. However, I am prior navy as well and will be finishing my BSN in August of '19, I was told that I could only apply my junior year. I agree schertz7, I have been getting involved in some local community volunteering, like Meals on Wheels, Relay for life, and being an active volunteer in veterans programs at the school and speaking with kids in the classroom when teachers ask. My recruiter told me to get back into contact with him when I hit my last semester of school so we can start preparing my package as there are so many letters of recommendation needed. He suggested that a couple come from the professors since I would be such a new grad. Its a bummer that no other nursing experience counts because even though I am an LPN I have a couple years of OR experience. But Im keeping my chin up and ready to move back somewhere warm. Its flipping cold in North Dakota.

Hey everyone, I am in my last phase of my BSN and I have spoken with my medical recruiter for applying for DA. My question is how long did it take you to get credentialed in your field for package submission? Sadly I missed the Navy Nurse Corps education program cut off date so this is my next option. I currently work in the OR but was told all my hours in field to be credentialed only begin to accumulate post BSN. I also read somewhere that the DA nurses have a better chance of going to other locations besides the big three where the NNC graduates typically get stationed. Has anyone had any experience with that also? Thank you!

I agree with Pixie.RN. I am always contacting my recruiter asking questions.(Im prior enlisted seeking active duty DA when Im finished with my BSN & credentials.) The last thing you will be to them is a burden, thats the situation in my case anyway. When I was prior enlisted I worked in the departmental office on both sea and shore duty, I frequently routed up paperwork t/o the COC, unless something was extremely detailed it usually didnt take four months to route waivers, maybe four weeks.

@Nurse Devo, I am also prior enlisted and finishing my BSN. I have been searching for a OSO recruiter who does Nurse Corps recruitment. The virtual recruiter sent me an email stating to just keep my GPA competitive and apply three months out. However, I have been reading other feeds and it appears that there are many applicants who had quite the application process. I have also read that they only allot so many nurses per FY. If you have any of this information could you please share it with me. I can't seem to get ahold of the OSO recruiter in my area-the closest one is in Minneapolis which is about 6 hours from where I live now. Thanks!
