I have an interview coming up soon. How is the hospital? Pay? Usual Nurse- pt ratio on a non-icu? Do the nurses wear a specific color uniform? Anything I need to know.... Thanks!

All I know if you can work at PG Hospital, you can work anywhere. Pt ratio is not the greatest. I've heard of 6 pts on the mother and baby unit as well close to 1:7 on Non ICU floors. But supposedly University of Maryland Medical System has bought/partnered with them so this is a great time to get in because things will be better!! Good luck on your interview
Thank you fashionistarn!

I worked at PG. It is a very very busy trauma center, and I agree if you can work at PG, you probably could work anywhere. The pay varies with experience. They start new grads off at 26.41/hr on day and evening is 29.41, and nights is 31.41....pt ratio on non icu can be tough at times...between 4 and 5 on day shift, up to 6 on evening and up to 7 on nights....nurses could wear whatever scrubs they want...I feel as though it is a great place to learn....

Hello. I have recently relocated to the Maryland/DC area. Looking to apply to Prince George's in the ED. Can anyone elaborate and provide any helpful information regarding their ED. Nurse to pt ratio? How are techs utilized? High turnover with RN's? Are all pts thoroughly triaged out front by a RN? Is there an actual trauma team of RN's for each shift or which RN's respond to the trauma bay/arrest bay? Are their assigned charge nurses or does most of the staff take turns with charge nurse? Wait times for pts? Is management involved or distant with their staff? What is the structure of the ED? Are there shift managers or assistant managers?
I am trying to get a sense of how their ED is run and staffed. Any information is greatly appreciated! Happy Holidays to all. :)

Deefierce,Did you have the interview yet? How was it? What did they ask you? I just got. call from PG saying they want to schedule an interview with me. thnk you
Yes. I did ANd I got the job. It was a very simple interview. They didn't ask much questions especially since I am a psych nurse and I was interviewing for a cardiac unit RN. They only ask about myself and what I was looking for and y I chose cardiac. It was very easy. Just smile, look and act interested (smile and ask questions) and look sharp. What unit are you interviewing for?
