Pretty sure I'm the only nursing student ever

Im pretty sure Im the only nursing student ever who LOVES med-surg!

Its only med-surg 1 and its only been yesterda and today but I am literally loving it.

I have a great teacher and hes really makes EVERYTHING as easy to understand as possible!

What about everyone else?

i loved med surg when i went thru LPN school.....i havent worked on one, only went thru clinicals but i still loved it and I can not wait to become an RN so i can work on one for real!!!!

I start my med surg rotations this semester, so I'll get back to ya. Glad to know you are enjoying it though... gives me hope!

Oh my God. Go away. You guys remind me of the obese girl in my class with 3 kids by 2 different baby daddies that smoked like a chimney. Everyone would bad mouth her as soon as she turned her back or left the room. Don't be one of her.

I love the med/surg in class. Learning the diseases and disorders, etc....but a med/surg floor in clinicals??? Not so much. I want to work med/surg though starting out to get the experience, but I can't say it's something I love.

I'm kinda getting the feeling you are "loving" the class portion at this point with only being in for 2 days. Have you done clinicals on a med/surg floor yet?

Are you sure you and your immature classmates don't belong in highschool? Sad to think somebody with such an immature and judgemental attitude like yours wants to be a nurse and take care of people who may be just like the girl you are talking about. Grow up!

I love med-surg content AND clinicals. There is always variety in med-surg, always something new to learn, and I like working with adults rather than children or babies. I'm in my fourth semester and am choosing med-surg for my preceptorship, and looking for a med-surg job when I graduate.

I don't know who this was directed to but I had Med-Surg I with clinicals last semester and, as stated in my previous post, loved every minute of both class and clinicals. Is it really such a stretch? Everyone has their different likes/dislikes and that's great. I know plenty of people of people who love OB. I liked it okay, but I loved med-surg way better and could never see myself as an OB nurse.

CBsMommy, it was a reply to the OP.

The OP said he has only been in for 2 days and loves the instructor etc. That's why I assumed he hasn't started clinicals yet. No it is not a stretch to love med/surg and I realize that everyone has their own likes or dislikes. My response was not intended to "offend" or put down people who like med/surg. I just think the subject matter of the class and the actual clinicals on a med/surg floor are two different things completely. I love the class portion also and I don't "hate" clinicals on a med/surg floor, I just feel it's not where I want to be forever. Like I said before, I'm planning on working med/surg as a new grad to get the wonderful experience that a med/surg gives you for moving foward in the future. I'm also requesting med/surg for my preceptorship in March. But to say that I "love" a med/surg floor is an overstatement and there is nothing wrong with me not loving it the way you do.
