President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Jobs?  The job market is hot.  What are you talking about?  That's such an obvious lack of looking at the news that I can't trust anything else you say. ..especially when you have no citations.

That went right over her your head.

Yet record turnout voting in Georgia despite the chicken little cries of Democrats.  I didn’t realize requiring ID to vote causes chaos and ends a democracy.

Making it illegal for governors to change election law without legislative approval,  ID requirements to prove you're a citizen,  shortening the time to register for mail voting, no more sending out mail ballots to everyone, etc...

Some proposals can and should be debated.  But, our democracy is in peril if supporters of those are elected?

Those aren't very new ideas.   The sky wasn't falling over them until the Dems realized they were going to get shellacked in the midterms.

If our democracy is in peril, Dems shouldn't have helped out the extremists in midterms.  Shouldn't make Stacy Abrams immune from election-denier criticism.  Maybe for now put the issues aside that turn off moderate conservatives and many independents like climate change and fighting the fossil fuel energy and instead focus on concerns we have in common,  like inflation and the economy.

Biden has failed and Democrats are desperate.

Fear-mongering 101.

Meh, she was a US Senator for 4 years, and spent half of that running for President,  then VP.  Never mind if you think she is qualified for VP.  You need to think of her as taking over the presidency.  Especially if Biden were to be re-elected.  Imo, if she wasn't a black woman, she never would have been on the ticket.

Walker and Oz's lack of experience keeps getting mentioned here.  I think having people of various backgrounds as well as politically experienced folks in Congress is a healthy thing.  It certainly isn't new.  The Dems have had Warren, Franken, Hilary Clinton, for example.  I'll counter MTG with AOC.

Walker and MTF are stupid and Oz is an opportunist quack.

Franklin, Clinton and AOC while right-wing have brains.

In your conservative opinion.

Biden is far from failure.  Failure is ignoring a pandemic and creating a partisan fight over pandemic mitigation after encouraging the despot who invaded Ukraine.

Failure is promising that Mexico would pay for a wall, "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on", renegotiating NAFTA (which directly contributed to a baby formula shortage), and repeal and replace the ACA with no actual replacement plan ever articulated.

A single term marked by unprecedented lying,  abuse of power in extorting the country Putin wanted to invade, and an outgoing attempt to overthrow our democracy by lying about election integrity and inciting a mob to storm the Capitol on his behalf.  Then we all learned that he had stolen and concealed a bunch of top secret documents.

That's what failure in a presidency looks like, in my view.

Franken, Clinton and AOC are liberals.  Only AOC should be described as politically left wing.  Clinton is a political moderate and always had been... except when she identified with Republicans in her youth.

It seems like Oprah introduced Oz to television celebrity and that changed him from respected physician to television salesman and supplement barker.

Duh.  That's what we do here.  Share opinions.

Polls and the the upcoming bloodbath for the Dems would suggest that most Americans disagree with you.

That's a admirable attempt at deflection.  And, your left-wing opinion.

I misspoke.  The are left wing liberals.

Well, earlier in the discussion, there was talk about Walker and Oz not having experience.

I guess that really isn't the issue, after all.

I'll refrain from pointing out Democrats who are stupid or are opportunists.  It doesn't seem that would lead to a constructive conversation.

Remember  I didn't think Butigieg was qualified so experience is an issue with me.  But I have other issues.  I just can't fathom living in a time that the power of the senate will turn on these two.

Funny there was a discussion that Obama wasn't qualified.

Feel free to deflect, but I you're right it won't be meaningful.

The list woukd be too long to post on here.

The power of the Senate resting on their two opponents is frightening, imo.  It's a matter of political preference.

I've held the sad belief for a long time that for a variety of reasons, we don't have our best and brightest or most ethical, from either side, leading our country.  The unfortunate fact is that Walker, Oz, and their opponents probably aren't any worse than most of those who currently serve.
