Where do you study?

Where do you spend most of your time studying/doing homework? When I was in A&P and Micro, where most of the homework was reading and memorizing, I would sit in my recliner with my textbook and POL (puppy on lap). This term I'm taking chemistry, which I do at the kitchen table so I can spread all my stuff out and write out my homework problems. :specs: I try to get everything pretty much done by the time the kids get home from school so they can have a snack at the table, but most of the time I'm not finished yet when they get home.

I have never studied at the library. Why? I don't know! :clown: Where do you all study?

I set up this area in my basement with a lamp, electric blanket etc, but rarely study down there. I prefer to be down there, but most of the time I start studying right after supper and my husband isn't home yet. I don't want to be downstairs with the kids upstairs running wild. I can at least keep an eye on them from the kitchen table. Last night I was taking a practice test and I sprawled out on my bed. Whatever works, right?

In the living room on the couch - usually with the TV turned on to Nick (usually because that is what my son has it on when he's home and I forget to change it). We have a huge coffee table that sits up as high as the couch....I have my laptop and my stuff spread out all over it and the couch. It works out nicely because I work so much better with noise going on around me.

I went to the library 1 time. I found the appeal of all those books and magazines to be way too much for me and it was too quiet in there. I need noise in order to concentrate. I have a 3 hour break in-between classes 1x per week and I usually find the most noisy place on campus (the student center) and set up shop there.

I've tried to study in many different settings but the only time I really get into my study mode is when I lay on my bed. I do almost all of my studying there and I find that it's the best possible place for me. lol...I'll admit, there have been a few times where I've fallen asleep face first in my book and woke up the next day with ink on my face:) But I just cannot seem to study anywhere else...at least not as effectively. I have to be completely comfortable and there can't be any noise or else I get very annoyed!

Sitting up in my bed, with a pillow in front, and a large book and my notebook/paper on top to help with the level for writing notes, and my text/notes on the side to read from....works for me!

oh, and then when I am through studying...its usually very very late, I just stack my books up to the side of my bed against the wall, about middle of the bed, and sleep with them there!!! :chuckle

...tried the kitchen table....didnt work for me!

I usually study in the library on campus (yeah, it's very quiet. Maybe I need some more noise).:chuckle

There are many times though, when I study right before I go to sleep...and then the fatigue sets in...ZZZZZZ

I study at the Kitchen table so I can spread out - I don't like to study on campus because too many friends will see me and sit down and want to chat and I feel bad for shooing them away. I don't like to study at the Library because...I don't know...I've tried it once, but never could concentrate.

But I always sleep with a text under my pillow - it's osmosis, I'm telling ya...:)

Thats exactly how I study.. I have one of those pillows that support you back while sitting up in bed, so I just have all my books, notes ect sprawled out about the bed, and I always have a "Pure Moods" cd playing in the background!!!

I used to study at my university's beautiful library in one of the study rooms. In these rooms there would either be a chalkboard or an eraserboard. I'm a visual learner and so I would write stuff down that I was having trouble remembering. I would just glance up occasionally and read them until it stuck. Plus, I liked being able to stand up and move around while studying.

Usually I study on my bed with papers and flashcards etc etc all around me. Then I take as many online quizzes as I can until I have everything down pat. Lastly on Thurs. evenings my boyfriend has class from 7-10 so I go up to campus with him and sit in a study hall for 3 hours.

Kitchen Table.....

It is the only place I can spread my Anatomy book out and take notes at the same. My husband keep saying he will buy me a desk but I like the kitchen table so much more. I was never able to study in the library either. Also I have to have some music playing because for some odd reason it helps me remember thing that I am reading.

When I was in nursing school, I set up a nice desk in my bedroom, complete with a bulletin board overhead to hold notes, dates, etc. that I might need. I had plenty of room for all of my notes. It was quiet and the kids knew not to disturb me unless the house was on fire, or someone was bleeding !!! :rotfl:
