Of course you should stay positive! There is a special plan for your life and you will end up where you are supposed to be. I know sometimes it is hard to grasp that but it's true! How many places did you apply to and were they all only in the California area? Are they BSN or ADN programs or ABSN?
well if you are able to apply to out of state programs as well
and don't be discouraged because even though GPA is a big deciding factor for admission, it is not the ONLY deciding factor, find ways to make yourself stand out
also, you can always start with an ADN program if you feel the need to
there is a program out there for everyone!
I know this thread is old, but I wanted to pop my head in here and post a comment. =) I'm having the same issue as well! I have a low GPA right now (around a 3.1) because I messed up in college ten years ago. Now... I'm a whole new person! I've taken my pre-requisites and my grades are good. But when you factor in my cumulative GPA... especially if a school asks for the last 60 units regardless of how long ago it was... my GPA isn't that great.
And here I am, pretty depressed, because I don't know whether to keep on going and stay positive. Or just give up. I can't retake my last classes or ask for "forgiveness" from my prior school because I no longer live in that state.
I'm currently trying to get into an ADN program or a not too expensive BSN program... and I'm going NUTS trying to organize myself and look up schools to compare program requirements.
AccelRN2010or2011 : what schools in NY were you were referring to in NY that mainly focused on the science GPA's?? Any help would be a BLESSING!! =)
Stay positive. Since your GPA is low, then you should do other things to make sure you stand out. Do you volunteer? If so that looks good. Are you a CNA? If not I would tried to become certified soon. I would do everything I possibly can to show that I am dedicated to the nursing profession. Grades aren't everything. Some people cheat to get those high GPAs, and I am pretty sure schools take that into consideration. They should look at the whole package, and not just one criteria.

I have a 3.1 GPA and am currently taking anatomy & chemistry II and I am taking microbiology in the summer. I know that I will probably get B's in these classes and I was wondering if anyone with a similar GPA has been accepted into a program. The only people I know who have been accepted in my area (California) had 3.8's. Should I stay positive?
