Hi everyone! Thanks to all those who were helping me regarding the Biomedical Stats class. I actually (and finally) got a hold of someone regarding the class, and they did, in fact, state that this class is specific to the program. I was wondering if anyone knows if this class transfers to other schools. If I took this class at National (online... which I hope they offer it online) would I be able to use it to apply to state and community colleges? Thanks for all of your help!

Hello! I left a post about 2 weeks ago asking advice about the biomedical stats class, and thank you for those who were so helpful. I'm coming to a dilemma here that I hope others can help me with... I guess the only prerequisite I don't have is the biomedical stats class. However, I have taken a stats class before. As a matter of fact, I JUST ended it last semester. But from my understanding, National doesn't accept stats transfers? From YOUR opinion, do you think it's worth taking the class at National and spending the money to do so even though I'm not sure that I will get in? I have the online orientation scheduled for June 8, but I would like to get an idea beforehand because summer school registration is coming up (here at my other school) and I have to figure out if I am going to take National's class or take another course for summer school. (I hope I explained that right). Basically, the orientation on June 8 will be too late for me to ask questions. And whenever I email National, I get an automated email with no direct answer to my question. It's really frustrating! =/ Is National hard to get into? Is it worth my time to take the class? Right now, I have about a 3.5 GPA without the medical stats class. I have also already taken the TEAS and scored an 89%. Thank you so much for your help! I wouldn't be in such a pickle if National wasn't so darn expensive just for one course!! =) LOL...

Hi everyone!! I've been reading through this thread a little everyday... it's such a long one!! LOL! But super informative and I'm glad there is support out there such as this forum. I wanted to inquire about the biomed stats needed for National. Is that specific to National? I already took a stats class, specifically called Probability and Statistics. I'm wondering if that can be transferred over for National's Biomed Stats class? I saw on here that they're not accepting Elementary Probability and Statistics? I'm afraid that they won't take my class and that I'll have to retake it. And geez... that is not a fun class to take a second time! =) Also, I have already taken my TEAS somewhere else. Does National require that you take the TEAS with them? I see that there's a proctored essay? Is that during the same time you take your TEAS? When I took my TEAS, there wasn't an essay. Or is the essay given separate from the TEAS? I will be joining the online forum next week, but wanted to hear what eveyrone here had to say. Thanks for your help and advice. Hi!!! What school are you applying to??? =) So what I did was I called PSB-NAT themselves. Actually, I sent them an email because there isn't a phone number that you can call directly. Their main form of contact is via email... which is really difficult sometimes because not the same person contacts you back. And you have to keep on your issue. Anyways, after I contacted them, they provided me with a link to a form I can fill out so I can take this test off site. The tricky part is that you have to have permission from the nursing program to take it off site first. So I had to call the nursing department(s) that I am interested, inform them of my situation, let them know that I have contacted PSB-NAT, and asked them how they would like me to go about taking this test. For example, for the schools that I contacted, I was directed to the Dean because I will be needing their permission. When it's time for me take the test, PSB will have to contact that Dean to get verbal or email confirmation that it has been approved to take it off site. Or else PSB won't allow me to take it. Also, once you fill out that form... everything needs to be done within 2 weeks. So don't plan on filling out that form unless you know you'll be taking the test within 2 weeks of filling it out. I hope everything works out for you! If I take it ahead of you... I'll make sure to post how the test goes on this thread... To make this payment you may need all of the following information: your name, your email address, your phone number, the credit card number, expiration date, name on the card (if not your name), the address of the card holder and the security code (usually three or four digits on the back of the card). Hi ExPharmagirl Thank you for responding to my post! Do you know if National requires ALL of the prerequisites to be done? Or a certain amount of them? For example, I don't have Information Literacy, Spanish for the Workplace, Cross Cultural Pluralism in the USA completed....

Hi everyone! I posted a thread about National San Diego about a couple of days ago, and found this one... so I decided to just post questions about National on here. (I'd love to read all the posts but there's 117 pages!!! LOL!!) Well, I'm really interested in the program, and I looked on the website but it's just so vague. - What is the GPA requirement? I saw the required prerequisites but no GPA requirement. - And how hard is it to get in? - Also, what is the tuition like? I saw that it's $200 for theory and $400 for clinical courses... but I'm sure there's more to be added! - If you're in the program, how do you like it so far? Should I even consider National?? I am applying to the BSN program (generic). Thank you for your help and support!

Hello everyone! I was looking at National University's BSN program in San Diego, and I was wondering if anyone here had any information about it. The website is very vague. -What are the prerequisites to actually get in? - How hard is it to get into the program? - Is anyone currently in the program? Any pro's and con's about it? - How is the tuition? I see that it's $400 for clinical and $200 for theory courses Thanks for helping me out! I will be attending the online information session next week, but I also wanted to get any REAL advice on this school.

thanks everyone for the advice about mercy! i just haven't heard of a diploma program before. since uncc accepts mercy's diploma for their bsn program, does anyone know if other schools will accept it as well? i know, i know... i could call :) but i just wanted to know what everyone else here thinks about other schools accepting mercy's diploma. are the classes generally accepted nationwide?

the london sky: Thanks so much for all of your information and for sharing your experience! I've already taken my non-nursing courses so that definitely helps me out a lot. I have also take the TEAS! =) I heard that Mercy gives diplomas? What's the difference??

The community colleges in San Diego don't require that you take the TEAS on campus. I also live in San Francisco, and I took the test at CSU East Bay and they're all taking my TEAS. (This is for the schools that I called which is SDCC, Grossmont, and Southwestern) Also, there isn't a wait list anymore. they're going by a point system.

I haven't turned in my application to SDCC yet because they require that you do it person. But I'm making a trip out there next month. I'm also applying to Grossmont, and they also require that you turn your application in in-person. So, I'm planning to go to both schools during my trip out there. As far as my pre-reqs, I've basically done them all! :) Congrats on being an LVN! You're going to have an easier time than me getting into an RN-program. I'm also applying to Southwestern. I looked into National, but the tuition fee almost gave me a heart attack! LOL! I know the tuition is worth it in the end, but I just don't have the means to pay so much. If I did, I'd totally look into private schools too. I don't know if I could qualify for a private loan, and I just did my fafsa and I don't qualify for a Pell Grant. Does anyone know what other private schools there are in San Diego besides National?

Wow! You're starting in May!! Congratulations! Was it hard to get in? I looked at their website, and there really isn't much information. Is there a nursing entrance exam? What GPA is required? Is it accredited? And as for the tuition, they don't post the out-of-state tuition. (Which I'm going to be a non-resident). Again, good luck in school!

If I am willing to pay the residency status, do you think that school's are still partial and give preference to residence? Would it be harder for me to get into? I already don't qualify for a Pell grant just because of my income. But, I have to work because I've been trying to save up not to work during my time in school. I heard the cost of living in Texas is great, though! I mean, I'm from the Bay Area and rent out here is insane. Btw, I have a lower GPA than a 3.8! I'm actually on another thread regarding this. It's not bad at all. I have a good pre-requisite grades, but my grades from when I was in college ten years weren't bad... but they weren't stellar either. So if I had to calculate my cum... it's not that competitive. I could re-take some classes, but many schools also say no repeats. Therefore, I'm kind of in a bind.

Culture shock? How so?? =) Good or bad?? I have been to Texas a few times... Dallas, Austin, and Houston... mainly for business. And I really do like the environment. However, I am sure nothing beats actually living there for a long time. I'm from California, San Francisco so I know it's going to be completely different. So I'm guessing since you bought a house, you're in Texas for the long haul?? So you had to buy a home, huh? Wow... is out-of-state tuition really that bad? Unfortunately, buying a home isn't in the cards for me. The reason why I am moving is that my boyfriend is relocating to Texas for work. But the good thing is that he has a choice of either Dallas, Austin, or Houston. He's not in the military so if we ever decide to get married, we don't get those benefits. Can I ask what you school you go to? And when you say it wasn't hard, what do you mean? Is your GPA stellar? If so, congrats! Do you like the school? And your program? From the posts here, I heard it's really competitive to get in.
