Ours isn't until the beginning of Jan (9th I think). It's 6 hrs long then we are to take a tour of the lab. Oh, but the fun doesn't end there! We go to another 4 hour orientation on the 18th to meet our advisor and turn in paperwork due.

Woogy

i heard ours would be in feb. but no other info given yet as to how long and what it would consist of.

Wow! We just got our schedules or requested our schedules I should say. If I get the class time I requested I'll ahve off on Fridays :)

We also got books, $500 worth:rolleyes:

Sounds good. Mine was the same. We got our totes, kits, and uniforms. I pick up books on the 20th for a grand total of 12 of them including the Micro one. :uhoh3:

We also picked our clinical sites, and got our first assignment assigned. :)

I had orientation Thurs. 10am-5pm & Fri. 10am-2pm. We picked our schedules, purchased skill kits, were fitted for our uniforms, ordered uniforms/accessories etc. (a grand total of $317). Books are rumored to be around $800. We also have homework to do before the first week of class on medical terminology and dosage calculations. I'm going to buy a planner today and start putting all these dates/deadlines etc. in it.

Overall it went really well. The faculty seem to really care about the students and seem focused on student success. I'm a little nervous I guess but mostly excited about the next 16 months!

Specializes in Cardiac/Telemetry.

When I went to orientation, it was pretty much like yours. However, we didn't take a tour anywhere. They made us take a urine test (a surprise drug test!) and explained about how to register for classes and which books to buy and gave us our handbooks. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!:roll

Specializes in Surgical/Neuro/Trauma ICU.

I am starting LA Trade Tech's RN program in Spring 2006, the only thing is, we never had orientation, just went to accept the offer and pick up the forms I needed and my schedule. The school is approved and accredited, and the couselor told me that it is up to the head instructor whether or not they have an orientation. Does anyone know if that is acceptable (not having orientation)? Are there other schools that do this? It just made me nervous that's all.

Maybe you will have orientation the first day of class? I am not sure why they would not have one, but thinks its at the school's discretion.

Good luck

Yea, I think they are having it the first day or week of classes, at least that's what the couselor told me. But I think we should have had one before the first day of class, so that we can get a better idea of the school's program and requirements. :o

Specializes in new mother/baby nurse.

My orientation is on Jan 5th from 12-5. I already have my uniform and books. I paid about $300 for each. I'm already registered for classes. I have no idea what is going to go on during orientation but I am way excited!
