Feeling the Pressure

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone-

Just wanted to relieve some stress on here since we all seem to be in the same boat, so to speak

I'm currently a pre-nursing student, trying to finish 7 pre-req courses before I apply to the actual nursing program. Currently taking A & P I, no problem, Algebra, hate it, and will start Chemistry and Human Growth and Development in July. These are all my summer classes by the way. In the fall semester, August start time, I will have Micro, A & P II and another Math course, hate it.

The math is killing me. Although most of the solving is coming back to me, been out of HS for 26 years, I still worry that I'm not going to pass the tests. Oh I should say that I 'm doing this Math class online, probably not my wisest choice, should of taken it in class I'm thinking now.

Anyways looking forward to talking with you all.

It will be a change to have him around more. It will take adjustment for sure. I have to be very independent without him. I get annoyed if he tries to help too much. Does he have a plan what he wants to do professionally after retirement? My husband is working on getting a teaching degree.

We will probably reverse roles a bit, I will work more and he will spend more time at home. He is a pretty good vacuum operator and has more patience when it comes to house cleaning. I will be glad to turn it over to him ;) I am glad that you feel better about math. You will do better and better the more you do it!

Never hesitate to get help if you need it. Good luck

This is the truth! Talk about needing time to readjust to each other and everything else. Hubby is a Corpsman, medical type, so he's looking to go into the medical field, but he hasn't really made up his mind yet. I told him he could be a Walmart greeter if he wanted, of course he laughed! He's looking into a position that is open at our local hospital as a Assistant Administrator for the hospital, but who knows.

Navysposue...first all let me introduce myself...I'm just relocating from Daphne, AL..my hubby is in active duty in Mobile, AL...but just got new orders for the Naval base at Kingsbay, GA. (laurel landings) therefore my plans of finishing my nursing program in AL, is gone. tell me how you got into Jax College...and not costal georgia community college?

by the way, I'm taking Micro and APII with math too, and is killing me; can imagine with kids and no hubby around.

You are my hero, don't give up. don't hesitate to ask for any help. as right now I'm working in two research from Micro and APII..

Just Find You A 12 Yr Old To Help With Your Math!! Lol I Had To Take An Entrance Exam At One School Here, I Had Nurses Just Graduated Had No Idea On The Math Part. One Of The Girls I Work With's 12 Yr Old Son Helped Me!! I'm 31 And Talk About Making You Feel Very Old! Good Luck!

I have to have 2 courses of pre cal...Luckily my dh got a 4.0 in those classes, so he will be major help, and I did do a lot of the work in high school, but I really hate math. Also, I have decided to go ahead an get an associates in science rather than just getting my pre-reqs( I am goign into a diploma program, which actually has the best clinicals in the area, I have heard), and I ahve to take computer science for that. I hate computers!@

Hang in there and take it one day at a time. I decide that I wanted to get my BSN so I took the extra math for that right away after finishing the required math for my associates. I figured that way it would still be fresh and I wouldn't turn around in a few years and feel like I was starting to learn math all over once again. I bet your daughter could help you learn a thing or two as well. Good luck!

When I was in high-school, I HATED math with a passion!!! I didn't understand it one bit, so I was deathly afraid of taking it! But I will tell you, my teacher was the BEST in my college course (and I was out of high-school 10 years before going to college). Hopefully the online course will be ok for you...I was in an actual classroom, so I can't really say how much harder it will be, but I hope you are able to understand everything...it will definitely help you if you have not taken the pre-entrance exam yet! Best of luck to you!!!
