Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have NEVER heard of this before. What exactly is it?

I tried that several times but I keep getting the lovely "Page cannot by displayed" message.

Is it the test I took before I started school? I had to take one that showed how much I knew of different things. I thought I'd have to take a ton of maths, but luckily I only need one. I didn't need anything "extra". Is that it?

CLEP is a college level test that some colleges allow in lieu of taking the actual course. You should check w/ the college to make sure they allow CLEP test substitute. It can save you a lot of time and money but some colleges don't allow certain subjects.

Also you should check w/ several different testing sites. I know in my area one college charges a $25 testing fee and another charges $80. It's the colleges fee for you taking the test at their location and not the cost of the test itself($55).

I found books on Amazon pretty cheap for the College Math and Biology.

Good Luck.

try collegeboard.com or collegeboards.com and go to the student section and then choose CLEP and it will give you a lot of info.

Hi NIC:

CLEP is when you can test out of a course in lieu of attending. For example, some schools will allow you to CLEP your prereq courses. It has its advantages and disadvantages. It just depends on your preference.

Hope that helps!

I earned 24 hours in CLEPs for my first degree. The downside to CLEPs is that they cannot be transferred to some schools after 20 years (that's when the CLEP people trash the records). Of course, I enrolled in nursing school 21 years after taking the tests -- so they wouldn't accept those hours. I was able to wiggle out of a few by substituting higher level classes and being persistent but wound up having to retake sociology (too long since I'd had that class to CLEP again).
