Anyone familiar with Pell Grants?

Hello everyone!

A few days ago I posted about how to go about my next couple of semesters. I decided that everyone was right. It's best that I double up my science classes. I'm not sure how difficult that will be so just to be safe I want to go part-time, only taking the two science classes.

Right now, as a full time student, I receive a full pell grant which is enough to pay for about 4 classes at my school. I also am eligible for college bound Nebraska, which waives my tuition. In the end, everything is paid for and i usually get $200 back which I put toward books.

My question is, if I switch to part time, how will this effect my pell grant? Will I still get enough to cover the cost of my classes? is it even worth it to go part time just to save a semester? I'm sure most of you aren't familiar with College Bound Nebraska so I won't bother to ask about that.

To receive the full Pell Grant you have to be a full-time student. If you drop to part-time, your Pell Grant will also drop. Here's an example:

If you receive $1000 as a full-time student, you will only receive $500 as a part-time student.

My award letter breaks it down & explains it as follows:

Full award is conditional and assumes full enrollment (12 credits or more) per semester. The amount will be prorated for part-time enrollment and be reduced to 75% for three quarter time (9-11) credits, or 50% for half time (6-8) credits.

Okay so from what I'm understanding, I'll receive a certain percent of the Pell that I qualify for per class I take? Or something along those lines?

Oh great! This clarifies it. That's great news. Thanks you! Since College Bound Nebraska waives tuition for only full time students, I'll have to transfer to a community college that semester... Well that's the plan anyway.
