  1. I didn't know about bigwords! Just checked it out & what a huge time saver!!! Great tip!!!
  2. How can you find out if it will be a paper or computer version???
  3. You must consult with your advisor, if you retake those classes will your grade be replaced? At my school they will average the old grade with the new grade for your final grade.
  4. Kyruhh, You have to know the rules to getting accepted to the program that you are interested in, inside & out. Can you get extra points if you complete, all co-requsites? Can you bump up your GPA by taking classes that are not required prereqs for the program? Is acceptance merit based, or is ther also a lottery system? How is rank calculated? I would do the same as you and start to apply to BSN programs if the CC route is too flooded with applicants. Best of luck to you, and please keep us posted!
  5. I'm taking a 5 week sociology, online class, only 2 weeks left to go! Also a elementary algebra class, which meets twice a week, that is an 8 week class I have 5 weeks left for the math. I'm getting A's in both! I would totally do it again. Not sure about taking sciences in the short summer sessions. But these 2 are doable. The sociology is very easy, just lots of reading. The math takes a little time to sink in, & I've found that this teacher isn't the best. So it is my responsibility to seek extra help and do all the homework & ask questions if I get caught up anywhere. Most of the students are re-taking that class because their grade wasn't high enough to move on to intermediate algebra. I work about 15-20 hours a week & I have 2 kiddos that are out of school for the summer! I will apply to NS in the fall of 2013!
  6. Does your college offer tutors? If so get the schedule immediately so that if you ever get stuck you know when someone is there to help you. I'm taking the 2nd remedial math class right now & I was in the tutoring center yesterday getting help on a a take home quiz and homework. I don't know what I would have done otherwise!
  7. Thanks for sharing! Very encouraging!!!!
  8. Good luck you can do it! Just be super proactive & stay on top of it! Does your school offer free tutors? Utilize them if it helps you visit them often!
  9. I think you need to discuss this with the nursing advisor at your school. The way points are allocated are different in every school.
  10. It's funny I consulted a current nursing student who I'm friends with to help me figure out what prreqs I should take together. She suggested I take Micro during the summer with a particular professor, she warned me that the class fills up fast, but he is an awesome teacher and his class is known for the ease of his summer course. She got an A and the majority of her class did as well. Check Ratemyprofessor.com to see what kind of rating your instructor has.
  11. You are welcome :) Best of luck to you!
  12. Yeah I really don't know exactly what it is about nursing in particular that evokes such reactions in loved ones??? Nursing was one of my top choices but I wasn't sure. Whenever I'd discuss my anxieties about nursing some friends pour fuel on the fire where others are very reassuring! Some people are just intimidated I think, for multiple different reasons. It does help with motivation though! I had a nay-saying friend that tried to make me feel like I wasn't smart enough for college period (since I had never attended prior). I'm only into my 2nd semester but I have a 4.0, na-na na-na poo-poo and I'm determined to keep it that way!
  13. I agree with the weekend work, I do Fri & Sat nights. If you can wait tables in a busy restaurant you can make really good money!
  14. I took the lowest remedial math in the spring & Eng 101, now I'm taking the next remedial math & sociology during the accelerated summer semester. I'm going full time in the fall to finish up all the non-sciences then I'm going to take all the sciences one or 2 at a time. It takes time but any semester you feel you have more time you could always take on additional classes. Good luck!
  15. My award letter breaks it down & explains it as follows: Full award is conditional and assumes full enrollment (12 credits or more) per semester. The amount will be prorated for part-time enrollment and be reduced to 75% for three quarter time (9-11) credits, or 50% for half time (6-8) credits. HTH
