A&P II: The Summer '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Decided to go ahead and create a new thread...

I am taking A & P II at Valencia Community College in Orlando FL. We start May 12th...

I am an Online ASN Student at Deaconess College of Nursing in St Louis. I have taken a leave of absense for the summer so I will only be focusing on A & P. Guess I am not really a pre-nursing student, hope no one minds.

I am looking forward to sharing experiences!

I took the final today for my online lecture class. It was NOT what I had expected. We had 2 midterms for this class, each cumulative from the beginning of the course. A good number of the midterm questions were questions taken right from the individual chapter quizzes. Naturally, I figured the final would be similar to the midterms. I studied all of the chapter quizzes and both midterm tests plus the practice quizzes from the publisher. Well, the final was 100 original questions that I had never seen before. I did NOT ace this test. I only need a 79 to get an A in the class, but I honestly don't know if I did it. It could go either way. I really don't know how I would have studied differently anyway, so I'll be okay with whatever I get. I feel sorry for the others in my class. At least I had high grades going into the final. There are alot of people that have just been scraping by.

I still need to finish up a lab tomorrow and take the last practical. :uhoh3:

Critical Thinking questions at the end of each chapter....

We have to do CT questions, but I've never had to do them before. I am using Marieb, 6th edition.

Has anyone found that the answers are straight from the Homeostatic Imbalance sections? Am I doing this wrong, or is answering these just that easy??????

They are THAT easy. Wait until you get to respiratory and your CT question basically asks you why dudes 1 lung collapsed ( from stab wound)and the other didn't ...uh hello? Yeah., that easy.

I'm sure you did fine, and hopefully you'll keep that A.

Its funny you picked that question....my professor told us hed give us five extra points on the next test if we could tell him why only one lung would collapse and how to reinflate it!! Ridiculously easy!! I got my extra five points :chuckle

My genious professor thinks if he pushed our next test back one day (from Tuesday to WEdnesday) that we'd all get A's. Maybe I should have told him that after he said this more than half of the class decided to use one more day to procrastinate studying and enjoy thier weekend. I wish it was still on Tuesday, Im ready for it. (I think) I cant wait to take the test and to hear how everyone does.

I'm a little angry because I understand stuff like Anatomy and Med Term and didn't even have to study much to get an A but because I got a C in Algebra I didn't get accepted into the LPN program at my school :(

So sorry, Joebird21. Is there anyway you can retake the algebra class? Maybe another instructor, or tutors can help bring your grade up.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear that. Id be mad too! Try to retake the class to get a higher grade like the previous poster suggested. Or I guess you could try another school. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

So how is everyone doing? What are you working on?

We are still on urinary trending towards fluids/electrolytes. IMHO this has been the hardest chapter to get a hold on. Especially the steps through the nephron...but I have everything mapped out so it's helping. I'm finding fluids to be big review at the moment of a lot of endocrine but we aren't done with it yet. This test is next Thurs along with 2nd ( and last)lab practical.

I also found out our lecture prof. drops the lowest test grade...I never knew that so that makes me feel pretty OK knowing I have 3 A's so far so even if I do mess up the urinary/fluids test a little I will still have an A....but I will work for that A on the test anyway.

We have our first test that we have to take by Saturday. It's over Digestive, Cardiovascular, and Lymphatic. (190 questions)

Respiratory & Urinary is test 2 (120 questions)

Endocrine, Reproduction, and Embryioloical Development is test 3. (189 questions/75% of exam 3 grade)

Luckily, we don't have a final, but we do have a comprehensive lab practical. (Of course, this class is only 5 weeks, but we only have 1 lab practical..100 questions/25% of exam 3 grade.)

I'm not sure of the purpose of the odd number of questions... :uhoh3:
