Pre-nursing student trying to transfer to a ADN or BSN program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone. I am a student at Camden County College in NJ. I am trying to transfer to an ADN or BSN program. Which one do you recommend? Studying has been difficult for me because I have to work to support myself. I am concerned about cost. My options are Lasalle university, Neumann university, Rutgers university, Our Lady of Lourdes nursing program, Thomas Edison state University, Rowan University, Jefferson. Please give me information about their nursing program. I would appreciate it.

Your best bet would be to reach out to the schools you would like to attend.  When you say "transfer" are you already in a nursing program? Or do you mean apply to a nursing school?  ADN or BSN.  A BSN may open more doors as far as jobs.  There are many jobs that minimum requirement is a BSN. Military requires a BSN. However you often can get a job with an ADN and then get your BSN later.

Windsurfer8. I meant that I am in pre-nursing in a community college. I'm taking all the prerequisites to apply to nursing program.

Then you are not a transfer.  You would be a new student.  You need to apply to nursing schools, whether it is an ADN, BSN, or MSN.

Most community colleges have excellent advising services, so make an appointment with an adviser for tips on applying to nursing programs.

Good luck

She is a transfer. She is going to transfer (her community college lower division) credits into the college/university she will matriculate into. At her written request, on the proper form, the community college will send the transcript of her course work completed. These will be noted as transfer credits at her upper division college/university.   She is also a new student at the new college/university. If this not the way it is done in California, (as is done in my state - Illinois) please let me and the OP know.

Camden County Community College already has a cooperation agreement with Our Lady of Lourdes (OLOL)School of Nursing: Camden County College provides the general education courses with the School of Nursing providing all of the nursing and related courses, as well as the clinical practice.   Clinical is mainly at Lourdes and Virtua hospitals so all in your area.   Virtua Health system along with Rowan University established in 2021 a "Nurturing Nurses" program with OLOL graduates eligible for free tuition to Rowan for their BSN program.   See AN Lourdes thread.  So I'd heavily consider this program.

As Neumann Ubiversity class 1982 grad, that BSN program served me well -clinical's in PA and DE.  The other university BSN programs you posted are  all well respected, many more expensive.   PA schhools==consider cost of travel as PA/NJ bridge tolls increased last week to $6.00 each way.   Use AN's search spyglass tool top right corner of website to find discussions about above schools.

Best wishes in finding a nursing program that fits you.  PM me if you want assistance/advice as we need to support our future nurses succeed on their journey.

Thanks for your comment. The OLOL program would be starting on 2026. That's why I'm considering other universities to get a BSN. I'm almost done with the prerequisites (I'll finish in Spring semester 2025). The OLOL ADN program would be starting fall 2026.

Rowans BSN is in conjunction with Lourdes diploma.. They don't have a stand alone BSN program, next class Fall 2025. CCNE accreditation is thru June 2025 as they need to show compliance with some standards.  One can check CCNE Accredited program link to check a schools status.

A search here for the schools your interested in may be more helpful as not kept up with other schools your interested in and 20yrs + since I stepped into a classroom.

Thank you! I tried searching for Neumann university in the link you sent, but I couldn't find it. When I searched in their website, it said "MSCHE accredited"
