Hello!
So I was recently accepted to Neumann University's nursing program and I was wondering if anyone has graduated or currently attending the university? How is the program? Faculty? Thanks!
I didn't have to take an exam...but I'm not sure if that's because of my age (34) and I have alot of transferred credits and medical experience (i've been a medical assistant for 15 years). I'll ask some of the younger girls on my class if they had to take a test....because I know that after a certain perios of time, you don't have to submit certain things like SAT scores and stuff...I'll find out
Oh man so im really confused!! I originally applied for full time and they accepted me as full time. So the lady that called me to confirm that was actually a little rude. She said I will take NUR 205 next Fall and if I pass then my other nursing classes wouldnt be until Fall 2013. How the heck does that work?! Why wouldnt I start the next nursing classes for Spring 2013? Im so confused bc Im trying to get done asap. :-/ Oh and also, do you know the times usually for classes for the day students?
Oh wow that's crazy! Did you ask her why? I really don't know anything about the day program, but maybe since most of them are young full time college kids, they might take their pharm classes and whatever core classes needed in between that time. Doesn't really make sense to me. I would def call back and ask. Basically 205 isn't part of the nursing program. It's like the "Florence Nightengale" class, as some people call it. You learn about Florence Nightengale and the history of nursing, you learn about nursing ethics and a little bit about insurances and stuff. Once you complete 205, you apply for the nursing program. It also gets you used to NCLEX style questions on the nursing exams. Everybody gets in, unless you fail 205 of course. It's possible that Fall 2012 is filled up? I really don't know. Sorry!
Yup that's what she said, she said Fall 2012 was filled up. So that's what really made me confused the first, because the acceptance letter says that's the begin term for me lol. So yeah, I wonder if Id be able to get into the part time then quicker and be done quicker? I emailed Jill in admissions. Ill have to call her, I'm just afraid ill get the rude lady on the phone again lol.
Yeah it might not hurt to try for the night program, if that schedule is doable for you. Not sure if theday program is quicker or not. Do you have any core classes that you need before the program starts? I know you said you needed Spanish and religion. When I applied years ago, I applied in 2007 and they told me there was a waiting list and the next spot for me was Summer 2010...at that time I thought I was gonna die lol but it worked out anyway becasue I needed a bunch of classes...Hence the reason I've been at Neumann for 4 years and still have another year to go. So basically, you use the time while your waiting for the nursing program to get all those core classes in, if you're part time. I guess if you're full time day, you can do the core classes along with the nursing classes (besides the sciences which you need before the nursing stuff), but that seems crazy to me. I'd rather not have any other classes to take and all the extra assignments and studying, because the nursing stuff needs alot of attention and time for studying and clinicals.

Yeah they do. Definitely look into them. They have a list of scholarships on the website and you can also check with financial aide for any others that are not posted.
