Hi, i need some help an advice on choosing my fall 2010 prerequisite classes. ive never been to college and im getting frustrated about all this. anything would help. thank you !
thank you so much for taking time out and helping me! i appreciate it!
Sounds like you are on the right track. You have to take the prerequisites somewhere and most people take them at community colleges to save money. Pick a nursing school you are interested in applying to and look up their requirements on their website. Follow this guideline in taking your prereq classes. Meanwhile, look at the requirements to the other programs you will apply to, and add any additional required courses as you go. Then you will have all your bases covered when it comes time to start applying to these various nursing schools. Good luck.
I know you addressed your question to JR. But I want to add "thinking" your community college has a nursing program is different than looking online or asking the questions in the Admissions office. Also, your plan to take your prereques at your community college then transferring to a 4-year University is fine.
Why don't you get your associates then transfer. Others on here can help you with this route, but I think you would need to get your 60 credits (or Associates) then transfer. Others can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong about this.
yikes ok than I need the school your planning on going to other wise I'm shooting in the dark. In most cases your going to need to take
English 101/102
two history classes
math up to algebra (calc if your desiring to get a masters in some cases)
Chemistry 101/102 (if your lucky you can get a chem for health majors)
A&P I &II (a general biology class is prereq for this)
General Biology
Art
Humanities
Diversity
psychology: 101, development through a life span
a statistics class
A medical terminology class
.....probably everything that the dental hygine people have taken your looking at as prereqs i'm sure
thanks, your guys reply made sense. basically im going to go to admin. office and see what they tell me, and also speak to a counselor in person.
and i am getting my associates first then going to a university for the nursing program.

Here's all the pre-nursing requirement for the colleges that are in your area.
My parents met at DVC about 55 years ago. I guess that makes me old too. Look in the catalog for any pre-requisites for any of the classes listed.
When you visit Diablo College to speak with an advisor and possibly enroll, ask if Diablo has an articulation agreement with either of the two schools you are interested in. And most schools will have printouts available in the advising area that straightforwardly list the corresponding prerequisite courses for each of the nearby nursing schools. You just have to look around the area. Or you can print out the info from the internet sites.
