Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time of it. Take your instructor's advice. Drop the class and take a lower number next semester to prepare you to take the A & P class again. Remember the old saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." You'll be o.k..

Stay in the course until the final and then drop it. If you are going to drop it anyway you might as well see the rest of the material for when you retake it.

Also, a C is not going to cut it anyway for admission. They always say you need a C or better, but they really should just say you need an A or forget it.

Your Professor is suggesting that you take a preparatory course before re-taking A&P I? I do not think it is a bad idea if you are really confused and have a very limited background in Biology.

Don't beat yourself up. If your school is anything like mine, you would have had little chance of getting into nursing school with a "C" in A&P I next Fall. In fact, you will have trouble in A&P II and possibly Microbiology if you do not grasp the basic concepts of A&P I.

I agree with the others that you should Drop or Withdraw before you receive a letter grade for the course. However, I think you should audit the course the rest of the term to gain information. Plus I think you should seek out a tutor and/or join a study group the next time you take Biology. Good luck.

I want to add it's important you check with your advisor regarding the deadline for dropping the course without penalty - i.e. a bad grade. In my school, for admittance to the nursing program, if you receive a grade for a class you cannot retake that same class for a better grade. You have to take the next higher level class. Check your school's policy. You want to make sure you drop the class before it's too late.

Hi everyone..
I'm a freshman at a community and I want to become a nurse. I'm currently doing prerequesites in my first semester. Well I am failing AP. I went and spoke to my professor many times, and she finally said I should drop the course as I will not get a C with the available points left.. I'm very distraught at this point. I drove home in tears. Now I don't know if this shall screw up my admission process into the fall program at school... I finished half of all the prereqs already, but now, not AP 1. and I'll have to retake AP 1.. She instructed me to take a biology course. I guess I didn't anticipate that the course would be that difficult for me since I do well in Sciences...
what kind of a nursing student fails AP.. i'm going to make a horrible nurse.... Can anyone help me out?

I think you need to back track a little bit, your proffesor suggested a Biology and that is a great suggestion I would do just that, you need to learn some basics and some good study habits, another suggestion would be a medical terminology class I think that would help you with the terminolgoy used in AP. If your school has a basic AP class it might be listed under another name that would also be a good start. I was originally going to go for my LVN we had to take nursing 100 as a pre req and it was a basic anatomy course it followed exactly what Iam doing in 101 however it was very superficial, but it gave me a good background and familiarity with the functions and anatomy for 101. Don't give up some of us just have to work a little harder at some subjects and some teachers are harder then others, keep plugging away it will happen.

I agree with this go about the right steps for your school talk to an advisor and follow the rules to a T
