Hey there,
I'm a college student looking into practical nursing. I know $25 an hour is good money but I was wondering how many years of experience I need and how difficult it is to raise my salary? When I mean raise I mean raise an extra $10-$15. I'm not really a school person, I'm more hands on and the type who likes to work so I'm not interested in the doing the bridging to RN program so please don't mention that. Would I need any extra training? If so, is this training paid? Is it likely that I'd be able to get a big raise like I want? How does it work?
Thanks,
Sally
I'm an LPN in CT and LPN wages range considerably from $19-$35/hr $35 is far a few between average is $20-$24 for new grads and $25-$29 for 5+ years experience. RN's range as well from the very low $25 up to stupid high of $53 from the RN's I know I'd that the average from them is in the mid to high 30's.
Pay rates sure do fluctuate around the country! My last LPN pay rate was about $22/hr. with about 10 years experience under my belt in the early 2000's. The exception to that was when I worked special agency or private duty work where I made $30/hr. on each in the state of NY (not NY City) . I loved the $30/hr.!....and I can't imagine getting that in many areas even today because, I believe, pay rates have pretty much stayed the same in the last 1-2 decades.
Wow big difference in wages compared to Canada. .I live in alberta..us LPN's start out at 25.93..I currently make 27.06..I work in pediatrics. .I believe we have a bigger scope here then in the USA..Our course was the old Rn diploma course. .our wage taps out at 35..You can take a special ortho tech course here and start out with a wage of 33 dollars..Interesting reading all these different articles

Las Vegas, NV ... Average Home Health LPN salary is $40/ visit. Home visits average 45-60 min.. Requires a large case load, but is attainable. Keep in mind usually there are no benefits and the home setting is not always clean, safe, etc.
