Practical Nursing Entrance Exam

Published

Hey guys! i just made an account here. i was reading the threads and i found the information very useful. i have some questions myself actually :) i'm currently in grade 12 and applying to college. I'm planning on applying to the Practical Nursing program at george brown and centennial. In order to get in you need to write an entrance exam for science, math, and english.

does anyone know how i can study for the science portion? like any useful tips from people who took the exam? or already in the program?

thanks guys!

hi, i'm in my last year at conestoga. i don't think i will be much help because i did not have to write one.

is this required for all students?

my assumption is that the information will be basic, and since you are coming straight from high school, you shouldn’t have a problem.

good luck!

What is an entrance exam? Im a mature student and never wrote one. The only time it is required is when one does not hold the requirements or does hold the requirments however the requirements are more than 5 -10 yrs old.

What do you need to get in? All I needed was Math 20 (dont know what they call it these days), English 30/33 and Bio 30....(its all pure or something now...not sure)...

The program itself gives you an Anatomy/Physiology component which is harder in some schools than others...

good luck...youll enjoy the program :)

hey daisy! thanks for the reply.

i dont beleive it is requried for all students but i know that there is an english entrance exam for the centennial college practical nursing program, and a basic science, math, and english entrance exam for george brown practical nursing.

one of my options where to go to conestoga. where is it located? and how's the program? pratical nursing?

the entrance exam is basically a test you take in order to get into the practical nursing programs at centennial and george brown. the course codes are different now, but the requirements for pn are eng3u1 (grade 11 english),sbu3u1(grade 11 bio),sch3u1(grade 11 chemistry) ,and any math mdm4u1.

thanks for the reply guys!

Ahh okay. We didnt have to do an entrance test. Here one needs gr 12, or if a mature student then Math 20, Bio 30 and English 30/33 (I think they call them Pure Math or something these days-I think I just aged myself!)

Im supposedly a mature student ;)

If one is missing one subject or it is too old then they need to take an entrance exam for that course that is missing...:)

Thank goodness we dont do entrance exams here...I probably never would have gotten in :)

i love conestoga. i think they are one of the best schools in the country. i have talked to students from other schools and i think conestoga has very high standards. i think in some ways it might be more difficult (not that route you take will be easy!), but that's why i chose it. they have a good reputation, and a very good pass rate on the crpne.

all schools will prepare you, and i know there are a lot of amazing schools out there. for me conestoga was right

i would grab the HESI book and practice their science questions....should be all you need....best wishess in your career goals....keep us posted.
