UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

I still have my fingers crossed that those of us who have not heard can still hear today. I purposely don't have my e-mail open so I don't freak out everytime something comes up.

FINGERS CROSSED!

Hello Everyone! :)

Oh my goodness! I can't believe I am just now finding you guys considering how much I have obsessed over this program. I'm very happy to have, nonetheless. Congratulations to everyone who has been notified for interviews. I applied to WHNP and my interview is on Tuesday. Any other WHNP applicants interviewing Tuesday?

Well, I got an interview! It looks like Soffenny did too, (if her login name here is similar to her email address). There were 20 applicants copied on the email I received, and I don't even know if that is the only PMH interview email that went out. I'm still not feeling too hopeful, I think most of my optimism has been used on unrelated big life events which just hit me the past few weeks. But I am getting excited about the interview-I was preparing myself to get the big REJECT :sofahider email tomorrow, so this is pretty sweet!!! I might yet get into my first choice! :nurse:

Good luck, everybody, on your interviews-

the next two weeks will be very exciting!!!

:anpom: :yeah: :rckn: :ancong!: :yelclap: :w00t: :anpom:

PHOENIX!! Congrats, lady!! How exciting for you!!! I just had my interview today. It was pretty standard. I was soooooo nervous though. I tried to keep my answers succinct...but I also felt like I could have said more than I did. I keep thinking of other things I could have said. I try not to dwell on these types of things though since what's done is done - no use fretting over it now!

I will say, though, that my interviewer made me feel really comfortable, so that was a big help! The person who interviewed me said we would find out in six weeks what the final status is. Six weeks seems like such a long time!! Ack! It's probably for the best though - I am going to San Francisco in two weeks and it would stink if I found out while I was on vacation that I didn't get accepted!

Also, my interviewer said that a lot of wait list applicants end up getting accepted, so if I end up getting wait-listed maybe that won't be so bad.

GOOD LUCK to everyone who still has to interview!! :yeah:

FINALLY.

I JUST received my interview notification. I haven't scheduled yet, but my e-mail is from Gail Keenan. I'm not sure if she'll be who I interview with.

Best of luck to everyone interviewing this week and next week! :yeah:

Did anyone else get an email from Julie Kim today saying that your application is still under review? I was completely ready for the "you were not selected for an interview" email... and now I don't know what to think since she gave me no time frame.

Yes I finally got it, see I knew we would get it but it was just too many people that got the same email, and now, I'm nervous, I have to talk to my NCOIC tomorrow to see if they would give me the 15th off so I can attend to this. Hopefully, we'll get in Phoenix, even with so many people being considered, my hopes are still very high.

crad611 - I didn't get that email, but I applied for the adult/geriatric specialization. Which specialty did you apply for? It may just be the case that your specialty needed more time to go through applications. Either way, that's gotta be a little bit of relief for you! Best of luck!!

I applied to FNP. I know they said that FNP gets the most applications, but I also saw that some interviews were already given out. So now I'm just confused.

Buzz,

It was very nice to meet you on Monday! How did your interview go? Hopefully longer than mine? :D

I wonder if they just had so many applications this year for FNPs that they needed to extend the amount time for the review/interview process for the FNP track. Maybe you're just in that second wave that's getting reviewed. Hopefully since they contacted you that means you're going to get an interview! Good luck!!

Today I received an email inviting me to interview for FNP! So if anyone else is waiting for FNP still, it looks like they are still handing out interviews.
