Has anyone heard of DNP programs for those who are NPs but want to go into a new specialty like acute care? I am a FNP student and was looking into this for the future.

I have not herd of this; it really is a conflict with the stated mission of DNP education.

Yes a ton of the DNP programs I have looked at permit you to take clinicals in a new area and obtain a post-masters certificate in a new specialty area.

There are many DNP programs that combine the post-masters certificate as well as the normal DNP curriculum. FNU has these in CNM, FNP, & WHNP, just as they combine the DNP curriculum with these for BSN students as well. One of the things I like about the FNU model, is once you have completed the masters or post-masters certificate portion of the program, you are allowed to sit for the boards and get your license, at that point if you continue you can get your DNP, if not, you can do what you would do with any other MSN/XXNP program.
