Positive ETG

Published

I tested positive for ETG on December 22 2016. I have not had an alcoholic drink in a couple of years. However I did start drinking homemade Kombucha tea back at the end of last summer. I drink it for the probiotics and all the other benefits for the gut. I'm almost complete with my reinstatement process and now this happens! I am so scared that the Medical Review Officer is not going to believe me.

December 2015 I tested positive for ETG from eating Bourbon balls and having a glass of wine at my husbands Christmas Party. I had to start all over with my reinstatement then and I can not afford to have to do that again! Can anyone give me any advice or support since this has really gotten me in the dumps.

how does this apply?

I have no full understanding of this! I almost think their just saying this to scare me! I will probably get an attorney to fight this! I had one more month to get my 24 consecutive negative drug screens which is in my guidelines for reinstatement! My PCP seems to think they are bullying me.

The KBN had a Medical Review Officer call me. Right off the bat he was accusatory and downright confrontational. He laughed when I told him that I drank Kombucha Tea for GI issues. He told me that my levels were significantly high. My ETG was 1750 and ETS 384. I asked him what my levels might be if I were a heavy drinker and he couldn't answer me. He told me that he indication was that I was drinking and that he was reporting to the board as a definite positive!

How the heck is that legal??? In Texas, tpapn, the contract states we have the right to be informed. Unless they claim some BS proprietary info, I would submit an open records request. Or contact a lawyer for a free evaluation and they can point you in the right direction. But make sure it's an exp administrative law attorney or an official nurse-attorney. You can google and find that info for your state

Hi. I'm curious how this turned out? Also, do you mind saying which option you tested for?

thank you!
