Hi everyone, I haven't been on this site for a while. Almost forgot how to post a thread. I am in BMCC now and have 3 classes to take before I am accepted into the nursing program.. I am so happy.. My GPA is 4.0:yeah:
I was thinking on taking Mat 104 and Dev Psych 240 online. Microbiology need to know who is a good professor. I plan on taking classes in the evening and maybe a Sat.
I have a question concerning Porta Medic.. I had worked for Exam One for 3 years then left... Now I am trying to get into Port a medic and they want me to do some training and a online test of 4-6 hours long at home.
Wow... I didn't go through all that for Exam One. Did anyone go through this? If so, tell me about it please.. I am a little nervous.. I want to just work for them as a paramedical examiner... by going to clients jobs and homes collecting blood and urine.. paper work of course and vitals too.
I recently graduated with a AAS degree in Medical Assisting too.. looking for part time work..
If anyone is at BMCC please tell me your experiences at college and in the nursing Program..
Like how the Nursing Program Professors are.. and what to expect...

I'm not sure if your school is included, but check out http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ for decent profs. I found the website very useful when I was doing my prereq classes.
Good luck!
Thank you for the heads up.. I had looked up the professors at Ratemyprofessor and there is mixed reviews on some professors... not sure what to believe...
Take the individual online ratings with a large grain of salt. You probably don't want somebody with a reputation for being a poor teacher, and also unwilling to help students.
Here's the info for my favorite prof (for pharmacology & pathophysiology): http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=237553
In looking at his reviews, there are comments like "he already hates you" and "Dr ****** is a great teacher". The truth is probably somewhere in between. He was NOT easy (even the students who liked him rate him low on the "easiness" category), but I found his expectations very clear. He was VERY demanding as a prof, and I liked that.
Ratemyprofessors.com is not the "do all & end all" for professor feedback. It does, however, give you info as to how the prof is rated by a number of past students.

Hi Myleena,
I hope you were able to register already. I'm also taking micro and Psy240 at BMCC next spring. Two profs were recommended to me (I asked around), but I wasn't able to get any of them as one class was already full by the time I registered and the other class is in the morning, which I can't take since I work full time. I just took the Sunday class instead - they did not list the name of professor handling that class so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully I'll get a good one. Most of the classes by this time are filled already. If you're planning to take Psy240 online, there's only one class available and it's already filling up fast. I'm taking the M-W 5:30-6:45. I heard this professor's good.
For Mat104, I got an A out of my professor. He's very good and his exams were very easy.
I hope this information helps! Hopefully we'll see each other in the nursing program next year Fall! Good luck with the exams this week!

Thank you for your help.. I picked MAT 104 and PSY240 on line already. And Microbiology Sunday with I believe will be a professor who is suppose to be good.
Who did you have for MAT 104? Just in case I find it difficult to take online. If we in same class for sunday, we can be lab partners..
ahh sorry this was late. I posted the MAT104 name of my professor but I guess the board doesn't allow it. Anyway, there's a 50/50 chance that we could be classmates for microbio next spring since there are only 2 classes being held during sunday. Hope everything went well with your fall semester grades. Santa was pretty good to me and I think I have a better chance now of entering the program in Fall.
Happy New Year to everybody studying at BMCC!
