I voted for the first option. My employer has launched an incentive program that offers critical needs pay, incentive pay and mandatory overtime pay all in one if we pick up more hours than we are scheduled to work. If we pick up a certain amount of hours, we get prizes such as fitbits, hoodies with the company logo, meal tickets, or an Amazon Kindle Fire. If my employer truly cared, it would ask why there is such a shortage of nurses in the first place. I live in a mid-sized north-Midwestern city, where there is a labor shortage anyway, but there is an underlying reason why no one wants to work in my hospital, or even the other hospital in my city. Both hospitals need to ask the nurses why, and take positive steps to change the work environments.

Does your place of work care about their employees? Not just what they say or propaganda....but do they really make nursing safe and employees feel safe performing their job at your place of employment?
