Polk State College spring 2018 Nursing school

Hello all,

My name is Chris and I wanted to start a forum for anyone thinking about applying for the Polk state college nursing program starting in spring 2018. I am applying with a 3.45 overall GPA and a 3.5 pre-req GPA if I am adding that correctly. I plan to take my Teas in late July and I will update you all on how that goes. Hey, I emailed a lady in the nursing dept. She said not to worry about anything until we are chosen. Good luck!

Will alternates know for sure at orientation? or could it be after also?

I was told by a friend that is an alternate that she was told by the nursing department alternates would not know until after Dec 15th

This allows enough time for Final grades to be posted for the Fall semester to ensure that those accepted kept a 2.5 gpa or above

If not they forfeit their acceptance and they would let an alternate take their place

Welcome. It does seem a little last minute to me too so maybe she was misinformed. I think they will answer all our questions at orientation hopefully.

I'm on the alternate list, but I plan on ap2 with professor Young.

When I was accepted previously, alternates knew at orientation. Of course not all of them, but they start going down the list if people don't show up. This was 3/4 years ago, but I would think they still do this.
