No, but Financial Aid told me that we will know before payment is due.

Hey guys, I have the same problem with the tuition being out of state. I talked to financial aid and they said they’re working on it and we’ll hear back before this Friday with the corrected stuff. Also, for the orientation hold if u haven’t taken it, do it asap and then email an advisor asking them to take it off. That’s what I did and was able to register today.

Did you email financial aid or call them? I feel like depending on who I talk to it’s always something different.

Where are people going to get their physical and titters done? And it not cost a crazy amount?

Specializes in SICU.

MedExpress walk in clinic does the physicals for $30 and Accesalabs.com has the titers for $49 a piece

I called and they told me the disbursements were not until August 17th. That’s also what it says on the Polk state academic calendar. It doesn’t make sense to me why it is so late. It also says first time recipients date is September 17th.

What watch, stethoscope & shoes are yall getting? What do you all think about surgical caps? Like the fabric ones.

The newer options for Cherokee are a lot softer but I have wider hips and they just don’t work haha. I got the Dansk brand shoes and a Speidel watch. Megs had the Polk State Uniforms 40% off a few days ago.

I'm not a PCT, but I worked with them while completing clinicals in my LPN program. I think the starting pay is about $13-$14 an hour. I don't have any experience with the Baycare hospitals in Polk County, but at Countryside Baycare in Clearwater, PCTs had an insane amount of patients. My niece completed her RN program and was hired by Baycare before she sat the NCLEX. Her title was something like "graduate nurse." Essentially she was a tech with nurse pay. Once she passed her NCLEX, they wanted her to remain as a tech for another payroll cycle, with RN pay mind you, and she refused. She had worked as an LPN in SNFs for years and she wasn't used to the physicality of tech work. That said, I think Baycare is an excellent company to work for. As a PCT, you'll gain invaluable experience and they offer tuition reimbursement. I say, go for it and if it gets to be too much, request to go PRN. At least you'd have a foot in the door.

Thank you!! I see you have to wait until Nursing Fundamental is complete before they will hire you on as a PCT, but I will definitely look into that option.
