Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone is currently in or soon to be starting the PMHNP program at Saint Joseph University in West Hartford, CT. I just recently submitted all my documents and could potentially be starting as soon as January 2016. It would be cool to know if anyone else on here will be there as well.
You have to arrange clinical sites on your own. USJ does offer a list of places where they have active agreements, or sites that have worked with USJ students in the past, but nothing is guaranteed. You should start securing clinical sites in Jan-Feb of your 2nd year in the program so that you can start clinical that following Fall semester. You must take the clinical courses your last three semesters in the program (Fall, Spring, Summer), otherwise you run the risk of having to wait an entire year until the next year they are offered. You also have to have the "three P" courses (Adv Physical Assmt, Adv Pathophys, Adv Pharma) completed *prior* to you starting that first clinical class in the Fall. Advanced Physical Assessment class has 40 hours of clinical required along with it of which you have to find a clinical site for as well.
Is finding a clinical site as hard as it sounds?
Yes. Start putting out feelers with Doctors + APRNs you think you would be interested in percepting with in the December the year before you plan doing on clinicals that following fall. The paperwork required takes some time to process on both ends.
xenogenetic,
I do not have enough posts to be able to private message you, because I am not "active enough" on the site. I was able to get into that Statistics course over the summer that you recommended...can you PM me? Or I can give you my usj e-mail for that info?
Thanks so much for your help!

I applied for Fall 2016 FNP program. For those of you currently at USJ in Psych or Family, how is clinical arranged? Do you have to locate clinical sites on your own? If you have to set up clinical sites on your own, do they at least offer some direction i.e. a list of sites to contact? Or, does the school arrange sites? Thanks!
