PLU ELMSN 2017

U.S.A. Washington

Is anyone applying to the Pacific Lutheran University ELMSN program with me this year? There is a post last year about this program, so I figured I should start one for summer 2017!

Hi everyone,

I just interviewed this evening! Questions seemed standard, but they were worded a bit funny so who knows if I blew my chances. :) I was told the numbers 100 for a class of 24 as well, but wasn't sure if she meant that's how many interviews there were and they initially had many more applicants. I was originally told they used to get around 100 total applicants, but with the start of using NURSCAS those numbers typically double or triple. So, I would find it surprising if they only got 100 total this year. who knows!

She said notifications of admission will be sent in mid to late February and they are potentially increasing class size to 30 students, budget permitting. Let's keep the updates coming and good luck everyone!

I received an email invitation for a phone interview around 11pm Sunday night. I wouldn't worry too much if you haven't heard anything yet. Seems like the invitations are staggered.

Thank you for the information! 've never been this far along in grad applications before so it's a bit nerve wracking. I've got mine scheduled for this week!

For those who have interviewed, what kind of questions do they ask? Do they ask questions specific to information in your application?

Thank you so much for sharing

Hello! I just had my interview today, and the questions were along the lines of "why do you want to be a nurse?", "how will the ELMSN program help you toward your future goals?", "how do you plan to be of service to your community?", and "give an example of how you've dealt with conflict", hope that helps! Good luck!

Thank you so much for responding! So it is like a "basic" interview... I can breathe a little.

I don't know where my original thank you comment went, but THANK YOU!

Hello everyone,

I had my interview last night. Not sure how It went, but my half hour interview extended to a one hour interview.

My interviewer had seven questions that needed to be covered including the basics as previously mentioned: "why nursing", "why PLU ELMSN", as well as academic or professional questions, example of conflict and resolution to name a few. l

I was given time to ask my own questions. Mine were mostly questions about the capstone project and the scholarly inquiry at the end since I am interested in the research aspects and the fact that PLU Nursing does make it a point to have their students work contribute to the nursing journals should you wish to do so.

I was told that all together there were 300+ applicants for 24 positions this cycle, and so if you were granted an interview that was an accomplishment.

Good luck everyone!!!

I had my interview last night and like others have said it was the basic interview questions. My interview took almost exactly 30 minutes and was pretty low stress. I was told that final decisions would be sent out at the end of February but I forgot to ask how. Does anyone know if they email or mail out the decisions? Or would someone be willing to ask after their interview and get back to us? Thanks!

I also got that email super late, scheduled my interview for 2/2. Super excited!

Where is everyone from and where else is everyone applying?

I'm from Olympia and have applied to PLU and SU. I think I'll be interviewing early this week but don't have a time nailed down yet. :-) How about you?

Good luck and let me know how it goes! Mine is Thursday. I applied to SU, PLU,OHSU and a bunch of east coast schools and Vanderbilt.

I have a family that is in this area for the foreseeable future, so I applied only to PNW schools. PLU, SU and OHSU.
