PLU ELMSN 2017

Published

Is anyone applying to the Pacific Lutheran University ELMSN program with me this year? There is a post last year about this program, so I figured I should start one for summer 2017!

Hi! I'm applying! Their program is my top choice so I'm crossing my fingers. Also applying to Seattle U and TCC's ADN although I really prefer to go straight into a BSN or MSN program. If you don't mind me asking, what's your background? I just took my GRE for the first time on Monday and did not do well..but have a strong undergraduate background. Graduated in 2012 with a BA in Psychology with a 3.58 GPA and am finishing up my prereqs this quarter at Pierce. Looking forward to meeting people applying!

Hello! Nice to meet you :) I am glad I found someone who is also applying. I just started my application on NursingCAS and it is quite a frustrating process. I think it is asking me to input all of my grades into the system in addition to sending my official transcripts to PLU. I am planning to apply for PLU, SU and some local community colleges near my house.

My background (healthcare and academic-wise):

Graduated from Cascadia with Associate in Pre-Nursing in 2014 (got all my prerequisites done)

Graduated from University of Washington with a BA in Public Health June 2016

Volunteering in the ED department at a local hospital

Former Peer Health Educator (experience in health education and promotion) when I was at UW

Working as an NAC at a skilled nursing home, soon switching to an NAC at a memory care LTC facility

Haven't taken the GRE (I am scared T.T) but I am planning on taking it REALLY SOON

My GPA at UW is not the best but I do have a strong GPA for my prerequisites so hopefully that will help a bit :)

Hello! I am also applying! I have a BS in psychology and a MS with a surgical focus. I am trying to get my essay completed soon, however I don't even know how to begin!

That's awesome! I attempted to start working on my essay today but it's turning into a narrative of my life and I'm trying to zone in more on my goals with the program. I'm finishing my prereqs with A&P2, micro, and developmental psych (have to retake it because undergrad it didn't cover the whole lifespan) this fall and working on nursing applications so it will be a little crazy! I saw online that the program requires a 4.0 score for analytical writing and I'm praying I at least have that since my verbal and quantitative scores were sub par. Anyway sorry to ramble I'm just so excited about this program! :)

Hi, I am looking to apply to PLU's ELMSN program for the summer of 2017. My background is in psychology and I received a double degree in psychology and interdisciplinary liberal studies from Seattle University in 2014. I pursued a PhD in psychology for a couple years until I realized that I wanted to be a nurse! I worked as a research assistant at UW at the Center for Child and Family Well-Being for about a year and a half. I was also a volunteer at Childhaven for two and a half years where I worked with vulnerable children and families coping with substance abuse and domestic violence issues. I am currently completing my prerequisites at Seattle Central. I am also working full time as an infant teacher at Bright Horizons where I track and counsel families through developmental milestones. I also get to play with and enrich infant development all day which I love! I took the GRE twice last year while preparing to submit my PhD applications and it's honestly such a crap test. I scored in the 50th percentile in verbal, got a 4.0 on the essay, but my quanti score was trash and I've been thinking about retaking it AGAIN the first week of November. My cumulative was around a 3.3 (I understand that this isn't the most competitive) but my prereq GPA is around a 3.9. I'm glad PLU separates those two scores. Applying to graduate school can be draining but we'll get through this. I have anxiety issues and I survived first rounds so there's hope for everyone!! Stay positive :)

Nice to meet you all! Wow everyone has such impressive background! I would love to hear your experience from working in other fields! (Cross our fingers so that we all get in!) I haven't started on my personal statement yet. I feel that the topic is more board so it is a bit challenging to decide where I should focus. I still haven't taken the GRE and am worried about not doing well on it :(

Hello everyone! I recently submitted my application, and am patiently waiting for the news in late winter. I have been doing some research, and it seems like people have mentioned discouraging things about job placement following a program like this. Does anyone have any insight into this? Thank you!

Me! I applied in October along with SU and OHSU.

Good luck everyone!

did anyone else get a interview invite? does PLU normally interview?

Seattle3573, you received an invitation to interview? That's awesome, congratulations! How did they contact you, via email?

Thank you. It was over email...has anyone else interviewed or get a invite?
